Serving Leith since 1867, The Bowlers Rest is a family owned Free House offering an array of draughts, spirits, whiskies, wines, and non/low alcohol offerings. We serve dinner on Tuesday from 6-9, and lunch Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 12 noon and 1:30pm. We also have an array of bar snacks throughout the day and evening, including old school pub toasties and rolls. Whisky Week Edinburgh is the 3-13 September, and we are thrilled to be working with Fragrant Drops™️ again! They are bringing back their spectacular Fragrant Drops Blind Tasting on Wednesday 9th September at 8pm.

What is a blind tasting? You won’t know what you have at first and you’ll get an opportunity to make a few guesses of the age, finish, etc, before George reveals it to you. The person who gets the most right answers gets a prize, the person who gets the fewest right answers also gets a prize! So this event will be fun whether you’re a seasoned whisky connoisseur or just starting to explore the world of whisky. Your ticket gets you a welcome highball and a taste of 5 whiskies, maybe even some rare and special ones from Fragrant Drops that we have been hiding away in the back of our whisky closet. Even though we say 5, knowing the hosts, there will likely be some bonus tastes, as well as nibbles, special treats, swag, and discounts on bottle purchases.
