Makars Mash Bar - Edinburgh The Makars Gourmet Mash Bar is an Edinburgh "legend" & "culinary hero"! Conveniently located on the Mound These invoke memories of past times and loved ones.

Our food is inspired by the fine local Craft B**r micro industry that is now buzzing in Scotland. Like these Craft B**r producers, we carefully select combinations of local ingredients, to create small batch dishes with bags of rich flavours. Add to this our friendly service to make everyone feel welcome and the idea was born of opening a place where locals and visitors alike could rendez-vous to enjoy good food and good service in a friendly atmosphere.

We’re continuing our new series celebrating the people behind some of (y)our favourite food and drink on our menu 🍻

We’re starting with Edinburgh Gin who probably need no introduction 😏

We share with them a deep love for our city, it is after all one of the most magical places in the world.

Like us, they took something classic (gin for them / mash for us) and used this foundation to push boundaries. Their gin range is possibly the most vibrant in the world.

They have been part of our bar for years (swipe to see how much we already loved them back in 2019) and we have just launched a vibrant Raspberry Spritzer using their Raspberry Gin Liqueur 🩷

❤️ Bookings in August — for the first time in years we are opening bookings in August. The space will be released 30 days in advance, exactly the same as the rest of the year. Set your reminders ! As always, over half our space will remain available for walk-ins.

⚠️ Scammers are creating fraudulent websites where you can book tables for Makars, they take your credit card details and charge a deposit. This is not us ! You can ONLY book from the Makars website (it opens a Dojo booking widget) and we NEVER ask for cc details or charge a deposit ! Be safe ‼️

It appears other restaurants in the city are victim of similar scams so make sure to be aware of where you’re filling in your credit card details ⚠️

We’re starting with Pilot. A very cool brewery in Leith who shares many of the same values we do 💪

Quality ingredients, skills, and people who genuinely care about what they’re creating 👌

They brew great b**rs that have become firm favourites with our team and our guests. + they do it all themselves in their Leith brewery - a great place to visit !

Today is our 11th birthday 🥳 and what better day to celebrate the best thing about Makars - our team ❤️

It’s thanks to each person who comes in every single day and cares about their job and about Makars that we are still around after 11 years !

Thank you to each legendary member of our team and thank you to each and everyone of you who walks through our doors to enjoy our signature combo of comfort food & friendly service 🥔

May we be fortunate enough to keep on spreading joy with mash 🥔
