I know I’ve not posted in a little while, but when you’re closing, there’s not much to really post about, unless you want to discuss the latest episodes of Succession 😂
But I did think of something I wanted to say, so come and join me for a digital coffee whilst I ramble on a bit! I realised that if you’ve been into the cafe in the past few weeks, we will likely have discussed the closing, and what the future holds, but if you’re just a digital customer as it were, you’re not in the loop, so I thought I’d write up some FAQs in case you too wanted to know 👍🏼
Are you sad you’re closing❓Of course, this was my dream, and I never envisioned it was going to be over this soon, however I realised towards the end of last year that this was probably how things were going to go, so I had to accept this fate, but I am proud of what I did achieve, and have no regrets as at least I tried.
Do you think you’ll try opening a cafe elsewhere❓Whilst I’m closing the physical & metaphorical door of my business, I’m not locking it and throwing away the key. If the past few years have taught us anything, it’s that we don’t know what the future holds. I can say that the door will remain closed for the next year or 2 whilst I “reset” my brain and actually live my life for a bit, but if in a couple years I get the urge to get back into baking, I’d likely get back to my roots and stick with farmers markets.
What are you going to do when you’ve closed❓ I’m starting a regular Monday to Friday, 9-5 job, and can’t wait to clock out when I clock out 😂

📣 Closing date announcement 📣 I know we don’t want this day to come, but unfortunately it must, and with wanting to give you guys as much notice as possible, I can announce that our last day will be May 20th 😢 So you’ve got 4 weeks to get in as much coffee & lekkere treats as you can! Our last week is going to a big hurrah celebrating what we’ve accomplished in this short tenure here on Comiston road, so make sure you’re checking our stories over the next few weeks to help me choose what goodies to make during our last week 😊

Just a little customer appreciation post 🥳 We’ve had a rather quiet week so far, but the majority of customers have been regulars/repeats, and I just wanted to write a little something to say that you guys are the reason I do this ❤️ If I was paid in the joy I get from chatting and getting to know customers, I’d be über rich, because you guys make my days! I got into this to bake and share the lekkere treats I create, but as an introvert, I never thought that you guys would be my drive as time progressed 😊 Which is what makes closing that much harder, as I know I’ve created this space that is warm & welcoming place for people from all different walks of life, and somewhere where I’ve gotten to get to know some amazing folks, and I genuinely can’t thank you all enough for being the reason I get out of bed in the morning 🙌🏻

📣 Website/Email PSA 📣 Just a heads up that both my website and email addresses are going to stop working in the next week or so; They are expiring, and I couldn’t justify spending over £200 to renew them when I potentially only need them for a couple months 🙈 So for now I’ve got a generic gmail address (linked on my profile), and social media is still very much live, so if you’re wanting to get in touch about anything, you can still DM me or email me! Ok folks, this is it. I alluded to it back in November, and if you’ve been into the cafe and we’ve chatted, you’ll know that things haven’t been going great/how I had anticipated or hoped, and so it is with a heavy heart I have to announce that we are in the process of selling and closing.
There are multiple reasons that we’ve ended up in this position, but I won’t bore you all with them here. Trust that I’ve run multiple ideas through my head about ways to try and bring in the extra revenue, whilst keeping true to the business that I’ve established so that we could at least try and persevere, but as none of them are guaranteed to work, believe me when I say this wasn’t an easy decision to make, and I had to listen to my head and not my heart.
I’ve run my business full time for 4 years now, and there have been plenty of ups and downs, but at the end of the day, I was doing something that I genuinely loved doing and was passionate about, and I don’t regret any of it for one moment. But alas, we live in a capitalist country, and I have rent and bills and overheads to pay, so all good things must come to an end.
There is no timeline yet for when things will be winding down, it could be 6 weeks, could be 6 months, but I always want to be honest with you all, because you deserve that. So for now, it is business as usual, but there is an imaginary ticking clock for how much longer “now” will be.
But let’s not all cry into our coffee, let’s celebrate all the good times, and the fact that we got to educate more people about the correct way to pronounce stroopwafel 😂

You’ve got till the 29th to get your orders in, we’ll still have some available on the day, but the numbers may be limited, so if you’re definitely wanting some, get on it sooner rather than later!

Who wants some oily balls 😂 This is one of those times when you shouldn’t translate literally, but nonetheless they sure are tasty! A traditional New Year’s treat, you’ll find bakeries and food trailers throughout the Netherlands selling them by the dozen, and it’s hard to resist eating them all yourself 😋 So who’d like some of these delicious doughy delights for New Year’s Eve? I’ll be closed from the 24th to the 30th, but back open on the 31st ready to fire up the deep fryer and churn plenty of them out 👩🏼‍🍳 I’ll be offering them for eating in the cafe, but if there are enough people interested in preordering a batch to take home, I can pop an option on my website, so comment below if that’s something you’d fancy 👇🏼
