OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE OLD GEORGE, FAIR OAK
In response to the speculation, rumours and misinformation being circulated today, we feel it is necessary to clarify the facts surrounding the incident.
Following the incident, the police reviewed the CCTV footage shortly afterwards. Having reviewed the available footage, the police determined that there was no evidence to suggest that the management or members of staff were at fault, and consequently, no arrests were made.
It is also important to provide some context. The landlord genuinely believed he was doing the right thing by offering assistance to two young children who were alone on the street at approximately 1am. His intention was simply to ensure that they were somewhere safe rather than left alone at that time of night.
Unfortunately, the situation subsequently developed into an incident, and any injuries sustained were a consequence of the actions of those involved.
We appreciate that there has been considerable discussion and speculation, but we ask that people refrain from spreading unverified information and consider the full circumstances before making assumptions or placing blame.
If we could we would post out the cctv of the accident from start to finish, showing no wrong doing from any member of the George but unfortunately with licencing rules and data protection we cannot do this.( i wish we could ) .
As for the pepper spray people are speculating we used. As anyone would know is illegal to possess in the UK. The actual spray is a DNA/UV identifying spray to prevent assult or theft against or from a person. ( self defence spray)
