Today our level 2 students Jake and Fred competed in the final of the Silver Silver Slicer Competition. Having progressed from the recent heats they had a butchery skills test, preparing chicken legs, to then be cooked and used on their Pizza creations. We are proud to report Jake came 1st 🥇 and won the competition winning a trip to next week’s prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs awards dinner in London, a trophy and an extremely large certificate! A fun day in London meeting and competing with fellow students and professionals. Well done to both students.

Today we welcomed and own to Eastleigh College for the heat stage of the Rising Star Young Chef Challenge competition. Students had 45 minutes to create a pizza and side dish of their choice combining traditional and seasonal ingredients. Well done to Jake for taking best in class and to Leo and Fred with the runners up spot.

A fantastic day at for our Hospitality and Catering students at competition today - 10 students over 5 categories including Pasta, Amuse Bouche, Chicken Butchery, Fish Filleting and Cocktail Making. 11 entries and 11 silver medals 🥈 Well done for all your hard work and congratulations.

A huge thank you to Ian Page from the Craft Guild of Chefs and Leon Davis from Eat Wild for delivering an incredible dinner service with our students.

A delicious 4-course menu was prepared, cooked, and beautifully served by our talented student chefs, guided and overseen by Ian and Leon throughout the evening. 🍽️

Thank you both for giving up your time to inspire and support the next generation of chefs – it was truly appreciated by everyone involved. 👏

Our talented Level 3 Chef students had the incredible opportunity to work alongside the fantastic team at Hilton Utilita supporting the Southampton Hospitality Awards 2026 🍽️🌟

They spent two days preparing and cooking for the function, showing true professionalism, skill and teamwork 💪🔥

Last night, our brilliant Level 2 learners set up and served the event flawlessly — front of house excellence at its best 👏🥂

A huge well done to everyone involved. You represented East Avenue Restaurant and Eastleigh College with pride and professionalism. The future of hospitality is in very safe hands 💫

2 weeks of industry week packed with trips, inspiring speakers and hands-on workshops 👩‍🍳🎤
2 weeks of fantastic Burns lunches and dinners celebrating tradition 🥃🏴
And 2 weeks of fabulous lunches and dinners at East Avenue Restaurant experimenting with exciting new menu concepts 🍽️🔥

We’re all looking forward to a well-deserved break now, ready to go again next term! 💪📚

Our Level 3 students planned, cooked and executed their very own menu from start to finish — and what a menu it was! 👩‍🍳🔥 Beautifully presented dishes, full of flavour and creativity, expertly served by our fantastic Level 2 students 🙌

A wonderful evening enjoyed by our customers and the perfect final dinner service to round off a very busy term. So proud of everyone involved 👏
