Summer is officially packing its bags, and let’s be honest—your outdoor hobbies were getting exhausting anyway. As the nights draw in, it’s time to trade the sunscreen for some serious brain power.

We’re kicking off **A Season of Quizzes** at The Fox, and you’re invited to prove that your team is slightly less clueless than the rest.

**Put These in Your Phone (Or Scrawl Them on Your Hand):**
* **Friday 25th Sept:** The "Wait, is it Autumn already?" Quiz
* **Thursday 29th Oct:** The Pre-Halloween Warm-up
* **Friday 27th Nov:** The "I promise I haven't started my Xmas shopping" Quiz
* **The Big Ones:** Our Christmas Dinner Quizzes on **Friday 11th Dec** & **Saturday 19th Dec.**

**The Deal:**
For **£17**, you get a full belly, a seat at the quiz, and a prize for *everyone*. Yes, even the person on your team who thinks "The Great Wall of China" is in Japan.
*(Note: Prizes are of the physical variety—no cash alternatives, so don’t try to pay your mortgage with a box of chocolates.)*

**The Schedule:**
* **18:30:** The "Stuff Your Face" portion of the evening begins.
* **20:00 – 21:30:** The "Try to Remember Random Facts" portion.

Gather your smartest friends (or just the ones who are good at guessing), check your diaries, and book your spot now. Space is limited, and pride is at stake!

With great sadness, we share the news of the passing of Shirley Shears.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the very sad news that Shirley Shears passed away peacefully on 8th August 2026, aged 92.

15th June 1934 – 8th August 2026

Shirley was a much loved and very special lady who had been part of this community for most of her life. She was known and loved by so many, and her warmth, kindness and wonderful sense of fun will be remembered by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

The photographs we have shared capture Shirley beautifully, enjoying life, enjoying a little something delicious, and always with that lovely smile. ❤️

Her passing leaves an enormous hole in the lives of her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Her family wanted to share the news here, knowing that The Fox Inn and this community have always been at the heart of her local life, and hoping that this reaches the many people whose lives Shirley touched over the years.

Rest peacefully, Shirley. You will be so very missed, but never forgotten. ❤️

Our thoughts and love are with Shirley's family and all those who loved her at this incredibly difficult time.

This time tomorrow our Sea Shanty will be in full swing.
All the tables will be full of customers listening to one of our seven performers.
We have also been given permission from Easter Compton Village hall to use their carpark as overflow when ours gets busy.

Sea Shanty Day Sat 25th July, Free Admission.
First group from 1pm, Pub opens from noon. Reduced menu due to the nature of the event.
Don't forget to bring some cash for the raffle.
Prizes donated by Thatchers Cider, The Fox Easter Compton, Severn Whalers. Proceeds going to RNLI.
We have been given access to extend our car park, but if that's full please park responsibly in the village. We have lots of seating but feel free to bring your own chair in case all the seats are taken.
