WE’RE HIRING – Part-Time Production Roaster & Roastery Operations Manager
📍 Nelson Coffee Roasters, Eastbourne
⏰ 12–16 hours per week, with potential for more
💰 £15–£16 per hour depending on experience
📅 Applicants must be available to work Mondays
We’re looking for an organised, dependable and genuinely coffee-obsessed person to play a central role in our growing Eastbourne roastery.
It’s a varied position combining hands-on coffee production with responsibility for many of the day-to-day tasks that keep the roastery running smoothly.
The role will include production roasting, packing and dispatching orders, invoicing and administration, liaising with wholesale customers, updating our website and coffee labels, managing stock and helping us evaluate, select and order new green coffees.
You’ll also get involved with cupping, quality control and roast-profile development as we continue to develop and grow Nelson Coffee Roasters.
Previous commercial roasting experience is desirable but isn’t essential.
We’re happy to consider someone without roasting experience who can demonstrate strong speciality coffee knowledge, a genuine passion for coffee and the ability to learn a technical production role.
We’re particularly interested in people who are:
• Highly organised and dependable
• Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility
• Confident communicating with customers
• Practical and happy with physical production work
• Genuinely passionate about speciality coffee
• IT literate and comfortable using websites, spreadsheets and online systems
• Interested in coffee sourcing, origins, processing and seasonality
Experience in administration, hospitality, food production, purchasing, stock management, customer accounts or order fulfilment would also be valuable.
Nelson Coffee has been part of Eastbourne since 2014, and we’ve been roasting our own coffee since 2020. Today we roast speciality coffees for our café, online customers and a growing network of wholesale partners across Sussex and the South East.
To apply, send your CV and a brief introduction to [email protected], including your relevant experience, coffee knowledge, IT skills and availability.
Applications close Monday 24 August.
