The Waiting Room Vegetarian Restaurant serves great food with rustic simplicity, and with loving generosity. We have created hundreds of recipes over 30 years, whilst changing our menu with each season. The Waiting Room puts on live music every Sunday, hosting brilliant original artists and performers. We have featured in the Observer Food Awards at least 5 times, (Top 40 of all UK restaurants, Best vegetarian restaurant in the North East etc.) We were listed 4th in the Times list of best places to eat vegetarian food in 2020. A great THANK YOU you toJeffrey Lewis and The Voltage Jeffrey Lewis for playing a special 40th anniversary show for us here on their latest tour for his latest brilliant album of songs ‘Even More Free Wheelin’ - it was such a privilege to host this show, with Mallory Feuer supporting and with a beautiful audience to boot. I wish we could have hung out more - but we’re all so busy. What an incredible circus of curiosity, amazing music - and several very pleasing ‘films’ - Songs with extraordinary illustrated comic books to aid the telling of The Great Gatsby and Star Wars for example. We is very excited to be putting on Jeffrey Lewis (and the Voltage) tonight for a sold out standing show with Mallory Feuer in support. Here’s some snaps of a couple of JL’s previous visits here, including with Peter Stampfel back in 2011 we think it was. We’re super grateful to Jeff for saying he’d play this intimate show to kick start our 40th anniversary celebrations… and, - without further ado - alongside Jeffrey Lewis there are few artists we would put above David Thomas Broughton on our wish list of greatest hit returning artists… and he’s here! David Thomas Broughton will perform this Sunday with a sublime trio/three piece outfit, and gorgeous new album heavy Thoughts in hand. He will be supported by the mesmerising avant garde alt folk harpist Aurora Engine. We cannot wait, or could not were it not for having Jeffrey Lewis here tonight snd already not being able to wait. See The Waiting Room for more information and our last remaining tickets for David Thomas Broughton +Aurora Engine show - give yourself a real treat, and help us to make it 5 sold out shows in a row. If you’re coming to either of these shows and would like to eat beforehand please book a table from 5.30pm onwards. Bar is open earlier. Doors to cabaret lounge/event space - 7.30pm etc. and then so on. Right, best set up, and tidy my house.
