Work is well underway at Zen, with the structure for our extension nearly complete.

We’ll be open throughout the Bank Holiday weekend before closing from September 1st to 23rd for our refurbishment. During the short break, we’ll be upgrading the inside of Zen while keeping the atmosphere and experience you know and love.

While we’re closed, will be open for lunch from 12pm, or switch things up and try one of our sister venues or .

One last taste before the refresh ❤️‍🔥🌸

After 20 years, Zen Durham is taking a short break from 1st–23rd September for a little well-deserved renovation.

There’s still time to come in and enjoy some of your Zen favourites before we close for a few weeks.

And while we’re away, The Rabbit Hole will be opening from 12pm with a special lunch menu, so there’s still plenty to enjoy.

We’ll be back before you know it, with a fresh new chapter for Zen.

W H I T E C H U R C H, Durham - settle in for our signature Sunday roast, served every Sunday from 12pm - 5pm. With ingredients sourced from local farmers and artisans, it’s a taste of the region and a Sunday tradition worth making time for.

Tango - home of our iconic smash burgers. After demand outgrew its original venue, Tango moved to a larger space on Saddler Street in 2023, bringing even more room for big burgers, big flavours and plenty of good times.

The Rabbit Hole - while Zen is closed, we’re extending opening hours with a special lunch service from 12pm daily. Located on Hallgarth Street, step inside and discover one of Durham’s most unique venues, with Cantonese-inspired dishes, bold flavours and the Rabbit Hole experience.

Zen Durham will close from 1 September for around three weeks as we refresh the restaurant. Until then you can book a table via our website.

From 1st September, Zen Durham will be closed for around three weeks as we refresh the restaurant, elevating the Zen experience you’ve loved for the last two decades.

A short walk away, our sister Pan Asian restaurant will be open from lunch throughout the closure.

For two decades, Zen has been more than just a restaurant. It’s been the setting for first dates, birthdays, anniversaries, family celebrations, graduation dinners and countless catch-ups with friends.

As we celebrate two decades in Durham, we’re also looking ahead. Behind the scenes, our biggest refurbishment yet is underway, creating a new home for the next generation of memories.

We’re still open as usual while work takes place on our new extension, so you can continue enjoying everything you know and love as we begin this exciting new chapter.

The walls may be changing, but everything that has made Zen a Durham favourite remains at the heart of what we do.
