Smoked cheddar & caramelised onion scone with whipped brown butter.

One of your snacks on our current menu.

The building where coarse is used to be a cafe four years ago. People still come in when we’re closed at 10am on a Thursday and ask if we do tea and scones. So we often put them on the menu both here and up the road at Isla as a nod to our roots.

Venison pie, celeriac remoulade, burnt apple and beetroot.

One of your two snacks on our new menu.

The veggie version has a salt baked celeriac and apple pie instead of the venison.

Our wonderful w**e supplier Yorkshire Vintners Ltd took the team to Ch*****ne (tough gig!)

A huge thank you to Emma, Stanislas and Nicolas at Ch*****ne Thiénot (who make 400,000 bottles a year) for a fabulous first day of touring, tasting, lunching and vineyard visiting.

Next came Ch*****ne Pommery (4 million bottles a year) and Veuve Clicquot Official (40 million bottles a year). Turns out you need 24km of caves to store that much. We’re struggling to find room for our bins.

Ever wondered what separates Brut from Extra Brut, what makes a Blanc de Blancs, or why Ch*****ne costs more than Prosecco? Ask the team next time you’re in. I’m sure they’d love that. They’ve got no excuses now.

Venison, celeriac, truffle, blackberry.

Stare at this after a few w**es and you’ll start seeing all sorts.

Yes, that’s a pig in a blanket (swipe for a closer look).

Veggies (swipe again) get celeriac two ways (bbq steak & purée) and beetroot instead of banger.

On the menu until Saturday.

The usual stuff for this time of year - autumnal, day of the dead, Halloween, some tenuous bonfire night references.

That banoffee dessert is so dangerous it should be tried for high treason.
