After ten years, it’s time for us to close the doors at Davies Café & Ice Cream Parlour.
On 27th February, we handed back the keys and brought this chapter to an end.
This wasn’t how we imagined the story finishing when we first unlocked the door all those years ago.
Davies never stopped working. We stayed busy. We were supported by a community that continued to choose us — through the pandemic, the cost-of-living crisis, and the hardest trading conditions we’ve ever known. We did everything we could to keep this place open, familiar, and affordable, even when that came at a personal cost behind the scenes.
We had already made the decision to close at the end of February.
But as we marked our final days, Katie’s dad — my father-in-law, and Xander’s grandad — sadly passed away.
His loss has brought everything into sharper focus. It has reminded us that time is not something to be endlessly traded for work, no matter how much you love what you do.
Davies Café was never just a business.
It was the amazing staff who filled it with warmth and laughter.
It was the local suppliers and neighbours who helped us do things properly. It was the customers who became part of the fabric of our daily lives.
Many of you watched our child grow up within these walls. That overlap between family life and café life is something we will carry with us forever.
To everyone who walked through the door — thank you.
For your loyalty, your kindness, and your support across an entire decade.
This ending comes with sadness.
But it also comes with clarity.
The next chapter is about family, time, and being present for the moments that truly matter.
Thank you for sharing ten years with us.
