A message to the hospitality industry:
James and I have spent the day donating our leftover produce to food banks as many others restaurants have done. However it occurred to us that we have surplus surface sanitiser & vinyl gloves. As you all know these kind of things are in short supply in many places such as nursing homes. We phoned a few places and within 10 minutes found somewhere that was desperate for our donation.
As much as people joke about the toilet roll supply issues the food banks also are in short supply of them. So we managed to donate around 30 rolls to one in Dundee.

Literally every hospitality business in the UK has these kind of things. Sanitiser, hand wash, toilet roll, gloves are all things that others need right now. Whether you are a coffee shop, burger van or cocktail bar we all have something we can donate.

Its a really tough time for us as an industry at the moment, nothing is certain and everyone is worried. But the reality of the situation is that these things are no use to the majority of us at the moment. And as an industry we should do our bit to help the public. We can literally save lives by giving these things away.

So I urge you all to consider to do the same. What is £100 worth of stock compared to potentially saving someones life. If you’re not in a position to give away company property pass this message to your manager, if you’re working for a national chain speak to corporate office. If you do not work in the industry share this with someone who does.

Please do NOT show up at a nursing homes without contacting them first as you could put others at risk. Do a quick google and ring some up to see if you can help.

We’ll all get through this together but right now we need to do what we can to help those in need.

WE ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC
As I’m sure you are all aware the latest government advice is for all of the public to avoid non essential travel & gatherings. Our opinion is that this is absolutely the correct thing to do. However due to the fact the government have “advised” people and not directly shut down the hospitality industry it is extremely unlikely any of us will be able to claim on our business insurance.
To put it simply all 3 Million hospitality workers across the UK are pretty terrified.
However as I’ve said previously I feel as the industry deals with the public we have a duty to keep them safe. So from today we will ONLY be accepting Deliveroo orders. No walk ins or collections will be served.
As the majority of our usual Deliveroo orders are in the evening our new delivery hours will be 4pm - 9pm.
As you can see from the photo we have put out latex gloves, hand sanitiser and surface sanitiser out for the delivery riders. We will be encouraging all them to use our gloves, sanitise their hands and sanitise their delivery bags between orders.
As I have also previously mentioned Deliveroo is now offering “No Contact” orders. This means your delivery will be left on your doorstep and you will have no face to face contact with the delivery rider.

Right now everyone needs to treat other human beings like bombs and these precautions are what defuses them and could potentially save lives.

Thank you all for understanding why we are taking these measures. And from the bottom of my heart thank you for supporting all of your independent small businesses that will be hit the hardest over this.

On February 14th Wee Slice will be permanently closing down.
After much thought and discussion we have decided to close down Wee Slice in just over two weeks time. Although it would benefit us more to close immediately we want to give our staff time to find new jobs. It’s not a decision we have taken lightly but ultimately it’s something we need to do.
Since opening in May last year we’ve had an absolute blast serving you all our locally sourced food and drink. But after 8 months of trade it just simply hasn’t been profitable. It would be easy to blame high business rates set by the council but the reality is there is a number of factors that have led to this outcome. Its’ a real shame because the overwhelming majority of our reviews and feedback has been positive. But ultimately business is all about taking risks and in this case it just hasn’t paid off.
We have invested sizeable amounts of money, time and effort trying to make this work. Although the financial loss is horrible to think about the reality is we are lucky enough to still have our health, happiness & the hugely successful Wee Mexico to fall back on. Money isn’t everything in life and at the end of the day s**t just happens.
Right now our staff at Wee Slice are our absolute number one priority. We are doing our best to help relocate them and provide any support they need through this period.
Over the next two weeks we will be wanting to use up extra stock we have so keep an eye on our socials for closing down discounts we’ll be running.
It’s also worth mentioning that we will be looking for another business to take over our lease, if anyone has interest in our premises please shoot a message to this page.

Once again I want to sincerely thank all of you for custom at Wee Slice over the past few months. Sometimes things don’t work out but its only up from here.

This is your last weekend of the year to get a Wee Slice!
Even though the christmas period is one of the busiest times in the hospitality trade we decide to close to allow our staff to take a well earned break.
If you’re eating out over the festive period please give thanks to all the hospitality staff working their socks off for you to enjoy yourself. Not to mention all of the emergency services, NHS, carers and all the other staff that might not be able to spend this time with their loved ones.
Merry Christmas & happy new year from all of us at Wee Slice! x

Sometimes a 20” pizza is a bit overkill, great for sharing but way too much if you’re by yourself. From today all of our pizzas are available as 12” & 20” made to order.
