Last night, The Big Chippy was unfortunately broken into.

Over ยฃ300 was stolen, along with damage being caused to the premises.

The incident has been reported and we have CCTV footage. If anyone recognises the individual shown or has any information that may assist, please send us a private message. Any information will be treated in confidence.

Weโ€™d appreciate any shares to help us identify those responsible.

On a positive note, weโ€™re relieved they didnโ€™t manage to get hold of our secret recipesโ€ฆ although judging by the CCTV, we donโ€™t think they were after the batter mix ๐Ÿ˜…๐ŸŸ

Our recent post was about why we use our own delivery drivers.

Not once did we mention another business.Not once did we name another business.Not once did we criticise another business.

We simply explained why we choose to invest in our own delivery team despite the extra cost, admin and responsibility involved.

Interestingly, when we've publicly spoken about delivery issues in the past, and other businesses have gone on to promote their own delivery services immediately afterwards, nobody seemed concerned about "digging" or "taking advantage".

Funny how standards change depending on who's posting.

The reality is simple.

We believe in taking responsibility for the food we serve from the moment it leaves our kitchen until it reaches your door.

That's our choice as a business.

Some people agreed with the post.Some people didn't.

That's absolutely fine.

What we won't apologise for is being proud of the standards we've worked hard to build.

We'll continue focusing on serving great food, supporting our customers and representing Gornal as one of the UK's Top 50 Fish & Chip Shops for 2026.

Because if weโ€™re putting our name to the food, we want to make sure it gets to your door with the same care and attention that went into making it โค๏ธ

Yes, it costs us more.

Yes, thereโ€™s more admin involved.

But your order isnโ€™t sat waiting around for an app driver to accept it, or wondering when an Uber Eats, Deliveroo or Just Eat driver might turn up.

We took back control because we believe our customers deserve better.

More accountability.
More consistency.
