We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Gerry Hynds

Not only was he a businessman but he was also a true friend to all who had time for everyone. His support, generosity, and presence will be greatly missed by so many in our town.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone at Bargain Land during this difficult time.

HYNDS Gerald, 1 Rooneystown Lane, St Patrick's Road, Raholp, Saul, RIP died Saturday 23 May peacefully at home after a long illness.

Dearly beloved husband of Margaret, loving father of Gerald, Geraldine, Lorraine and the late James, son-in-laws Gerald and the late Damien, daughter-in-laws Maria and the late Bernadette. Dear brother of Mary and Ann and brother-in-laws Patrick and the late Sean, nephews and nieces. A much loved grandfather and great-grandfather.

Funeral from his late residence, 1 Rooneystown Lane, Raholp on Wednesday 27 May leaving his residence at 11.15 am for 12 noon Mass in St Patrick's Church, Saul. Private cremation to follow.

Padro Pio pray for him.

Family and friends welcome to pay their respects from 10am to 11pm each day. Family only on morning of funeral. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu to Marie Curie c/o the family.

We’re really disappointed to be sharing this.

Last night our bathroom walls were vandalised again, with large sections of wallpaper deliberately pulled off. As you can see in the photos, this isn’t minor damage — it’s something we’ve unfortunately had to repair multiple times now.

We work hard to keep our shop a welcoming, well-looked-after space for everyone, and repairing damage like this is an expense we simply shouldn’t have to face as a small business.

On this occasion, two young girls entered the bathroom together when told specifically that it is one person at a time in the bathroom and caused the damage. We have CCTV in the hallway, so we are able to identify who entered the facilities at the time.

Anyone responsible for vandalism will be banned from the premises.

We kindly ask everyone to respect our space so we can continue to keep it nice for all of our customers.

Thank you to the many people who treat our shop with care and respect — it really is appreciated 💛
