Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Assistant to join our team. This is a varied, customer facing role at the heart of a busy and popular bakery, where you will support day to day shop operations while delivering excellent service.
You will be responsible for serving customers, maintaining shop standards and assisting with food preparation, including making high quality sandwiches and ensuring that all food safety standards are met. The ideal candidate will have strong time management skills, a proactive attitude and a genuine passion for quality food and customer service.
This is a hands on role that requires flexibility, commitment and a willingness to get involved across all areas of the business. A bubbly and outgoing personality is highly desirable.
A driving licence is required for this role and due to the insurance we also require someone aged 25 or over. Flexibility to work at our other outlet in Lymington when needed would also be advantageous.
Responsibilities
Serve customers efficiently and provide a high standard of customer service
Handle transactions and maintain a clean, welcoming shop environment
Prepare and assemble sandwiches and other food items to company standards
Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are followed at all times
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the shop, kitchen and equipment
Assist with stock control and ensure shelves and displays are well stocked
Support the team during busy periods to ensure smooth daily operations
Promote products and upsell where appropriate
Qualifications
Previous experience in a retail, bakery or food service environment is preferred
Strong customer service skills and a friendly, approachable manner
Good time management and ability to work in a fast paced environment
Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock control
Knowledge of food safety standards is desirable
A team player with good communication skills
Positive attitude and willingness to support all areas of the business
