The Clay Pigeon Raceway was founded in the late 1950's early 1960's on a disused Second World War Military Hospital site. The Blandford Karting Club was formed and a Roval Automobile Club Permit was obtained and the first "official" race took place on Sunday 5th May 1963. Shortly after this first race meeting the Bath Karting Club assumed the responsibility of organising RACMSA race meetings. In t

he early 1970's the Clay Pigeon Kart Club was formed and has continued to organise and promote MSA race meetings at Clay, leasing the circuit for 14 days a year from a long list of owners of the circuit. Neil Hann was chairman in the early years and he and his volunteers extended the circuit to the 815 metres that it is today. In the mid 1980's Ian Rennison joined the committee of the Clay Pigeon Kart Club and together with Neil Hann, Trevor Brown, John Donovan, Colin Clark (and later Ron Davies) were responsible for saving the circuit in 1989 when the owners Lane Racing Ltd went into liquidation. They formed Chelborough Ltd, who purchased the freehold of the circuit to maintain MSA racing in this area. The circuit was in a poor state and once the trade tenants of the circuit were removed in 1994 improvements to the circuit were started - new fencing, track widened and totally resurfaced, tarmac pit areas etc. The club erected a new clubhouse followed by a new lap scorers hut and new scrutineering facilities. The circuit has now become a seven days a week business organising arrive and drive hire karts, Corporate events, practice and hosting most major championships that tour Britain. Recently Chelborough Ltd (the Circuit owners) has come under control of Southern Counties Leisure who now own all the leisure facilities around the circuit including the new 39 room George Albert Hotel and new improvements to the circuit and it facilities are on the way including a new purpose built Clubhouse and corporate area. The future is bright for the Clay Pigeon Kart Circuit and Clay Pigeon Kart Club.

🟦𝗜𝗞𝗥 𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗦🟦
With Round 1 of our main series already been and gone. We look forward to the next 5 Rounds in this year's Main Series for our IKR.

The next round is this Saturday, July 25th. Entries are already open for this one. With the entries growing each day, we are looking good for another competitive IKR round.

Round 3 takes place on August 22nd. The half way mark of the competition. This is where you will start seeing the drop rounds play affect on the championship standings. So don't count yourself out just yet.

Round 4 will be on September 26th. Followed by Round 5, October 24th. Rounding out the final round of the series with Round 6 on November 21st.

That is not all from us with the IKR. As the double header Turkey Trot 2026 takes place 12th and 13th December!🔥 Double days, means longer races and more room for drivers!

🟥⬜𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗧 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗬 𝗣𝗜𝗚𝗘𝗢𝗡 𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗪𝗔𝗬⬜🟥
Over the last month we have been busy with a multitude of different groups. From friends and family to corporation businesses. We've had a lot!

Our most recent one with Leonardo in Yeovil saw our biggest group so far this year with our Sodi Kart 390 karts. 46 attending this event for a 2 hour endurance - 40 minute practice and qualifying session followed by the 2 hour race. With these races we let the teams decide their strategy for pit stops, bringing out our 20 year+ old pit boards out... as they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" 🙈

it’s with great sadness today that we lost one of our favourite friends, Paramedic Trigger. As some of you will have seen Trigger at some stage of your practice or racing with us over the last 20 plus years and many of you at different circuits I’m sure we all remember his gentle, kind and caring character with as some of you know a great sense of humour! You will be missed Trigger, thank you our friend, we will be toasting you tonight. Rest in peace Trig.
