🧩SEN FAMILIES… THIS ONE IS FOR YOU 🌟
Why should your child have to wait for a “SEN session” to feel welcome? 💛
At Sensory Haven, and as SEN parents ourselves we asked ourselves a simple question:
👉 Why can’t every session be suitable for every child?
So instead of creating separate SEN sessions, we’ve adapted our environment and the way we run our sessions so that children with additional needs can feel comfortable, safe and included whenever they visit us. 🌈
Because inclusion shouldn’t have a timetable.
It shouldn’t be:
❌ “Come back on our SEN day.”
❌ “This session is too busy for your child.”
❌ “You might find it difficult here.”
❌ “You’ll have to explain your child’s needs again.”
It should be:
💛 Come as you are.
💛 Your child belongs here.
💛 Take the space you need.
💛 Let your child play in their own way.
💛 No judgement. No staring. No explaining yourself.
And our families tell us again and again that this is exactly what they’ve been looking for.
⭐ “I’ve never felt so welcomed into a building.”
⭐ “We all felt happy, safe and not judged.”
⭐ “A truly non-judgemental and inclusive space.”
⭐ “A safe haven where he can express himself freely without fear of judgment.”
⭐ “It’s calming, clean, safe, and most importantly a space where SEN children aren’t judged and each child is included and catered for.”
⭐ “This is the place that every SEN family needs in their life!”
These reviews mean EVERYTHING to us. 🥹
Because we know that finding somewhere to take your child can sometimes feel like a military operation.
Will they cope with the noise?
Will people stare?
Will they be judged?
Will their needs be understood?
Will they be able to join in?
Will I actually be able to relax?
We want the answer to be YES. 🌈
That’s why we’re constantly looking at the little things — and the big things — that can make a difference.
✨ Sensory considerations throughout the environment
✨ Adaptations to make play more accessible
✨ A calmer welcoming atmosphere with every session being reduced capacity
✨ Staff who understand that every child is different
✨ Communication supports
✨ A genuinely inclusive approach
✨ Food and drink for little ones AND grown-ups , no food on display
✨ Private hire if you need something a little more tailored
And we’re not stopping there. 💛
We’re continually working hard to improve accessibility throughout Sensory Haven, including looking at our changing facilities and how we can make them more accessible and comfortable for children and families with additional needs.
We may not be perfect, but we listen, we learn and we keep improving. 🌈
And the best bit?
You don't need to wait for a SEN session.
Because there isn't one.
Every session is an opportunity for your child to belong. 💛
Whether your child is autistic, has ADHD, is a wheelchair user, has sensory processing differences, allergies, additional needs — or simply needs a little more understanding — you are welcome at Sensory Haven.
And to every SEN parent who has ever felt like they had to apologise for their child taking up space…
You never need to apologise here. 🫶
