Huge congratulations to both Victoriia and Briany for competing in the Riso Gallo Young Risotto Chef of the Year Competition today at Leeds City College.
Both students worked incredibly hard in the lead up to the competition, putting in lots of preparation and practice to make sure they were ready for the challenge ahead. On the day, they showed fantastic resilience, composure and professionalism throughout, while also working in a clean, organised and tidy manner that really impressed the judges.
Victoriia achieved an incredible second place out of 16 competitors with her burrata, cherry tomato, almond, pancetta and spinach risotto, finished with spicy honey. Unfortunately, she narrowly missed out on the final, but she has secured a place in the wildcard draw, so fingers crossed she makes it through!
Briany also received excellent feedback from the judges for her sea trout, samphire and pea risotto, finished with a black coral tuile.
Both students did themselves and Doncaster College proud today. Their hard work, dedication and professionalism were clear to see from start to finish — a fantastic achievement all round. Well done to you both! Riso Gallo Young Risotto Chef
