We’re thrilled to share that Penmaenuchaf has been named one of the best hotels in the UK in the Condé Nast Traveller 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards.

For our first year appearing in the Readers’ Choice Awards, to be recognised alongside some of the country’s most celebrated hotels is a wonderful milestone.

It’s a reflection of the people behind Penmaenuchaf, from the care in every detail to the warm Welsh welcome that awaits our guests.

We’re delighted to have been awarded Four AA Red Stars at the 2026 awards!

It’s been a significant year for our house. The completed refurbishment has brought new life to Penmaenuchaf while retaining the character, warmth and sense of welcome that have always been at its heart.

The award is a wonderful reflection of the hard work, care and attention to detail that goes into making Penmaenuchaf what it is, and of the brilliant team behind it all.

We’re incredibly proud of how far Penmaenuchaf has come, and excited for everything still to come. Congratulations to the whole team.🥂

We’re delighted to share that Penmaenuchaf has retained its Michelin Key for 2026.

This recognition celebrates hotels with a character all their own, where thoughtful design, warm hospitality and a deep connection to their surroundings make each stay memorable.

For our team, it is a lovely acknowledgement of the care poured into every welcome and every detail. Thank you to them, and to our wonderful guests, who bring so much life to this much-loved country house.

We’re equally delighted to celebrate alongside our sister hotel, , which has also retained its Michelin Key.

There’s a quiet shift in the air as autumn begins to take hold.

The light softens, the mornings turn crisp, and the mountains surrounding Penmaenuchaf begin to glow with the colours of the season.

Head out into Eryri for the day, before returning to the warmth of the house for seasonal dining and evenings by the fire.

‘Llewellyn’

Tucked into the eaves of the house, our beautiful Junior Suite enjoys triple-aspect views across the historic formal gardens, the Mawddach Estuary and the mountains of Eryri.

An inviting retreat as autumn arrives. Settle into the super king-sized bed, soak away the evening in the spacious bathroom with its double-ended cast iron bath, or watch the mountain views change beyond the window from the monsoon shower.

‘Branwen’

A bright and spacious bedroom, with an original antique fireplace framed by a beautiful Delft tile surround and a cosy window seat overlooking the historic formal gardens and surrounding woodland.

The generous bathroom features a roll-top bath and separate monsoon shower, creating a wonderfully relaxing space to retreat to after a day exploring Eryri.

The room takes its name from Branwen, the Welsh princess at the heart of one of the central tales of the medieval Welsh stories of the Mabinogi. Her name translates as ‘blessed fair raven’, and her tragic story is one of love, loyalty and conflict.
