Finally Stonegate may get their comeuppance!! There is a god!! 😁😁😁

🚨 ATTENTION: STONEGATE TENANTS (PAST & PRESENT) 🚨

It’s official! The industry watchdog (the Pubs Code Adjudicator) has today launched a massive formal investigation into Stonegate Group over suspected systemic breaches of the Pubs Code between 2021 and 2026!

This is only the second time in a decade the regulator has done this! Here is the exact dirty laundry the PCA is investigating:

❌ Dodgy Rent Projections: Using unreasonable and unrealistic financial forecasts to justify rent.
❌ Moving the Goalposts on Repairs: Providing "defective" lists of initial works when tenants signed up.
❌ Hiding the Truth: Failing to give tenants clear, honest descriptions of the properties they were taking on.
❌ The "Silent Treatment": Ignoring or failing to comply with reasonable information requests from tenants during rent negotiations.
❌ BDM Shenanigans: BDMs failing to deal fairly, lawfully, or keep accurate, timely records of what was promised in meetings.

On top of that, Stonegate has sat last in the PCA's Tied Tenant Survey for three years running. Clearly, the regulator has finally had enough of the excuses!

Hi everyone
This is a really hard post to write as I genuinely hoped that it wouldn't come to this. Unfortunately we have terminated our tenancy with Stonegate. As most of you are aware I have been trying to negotiate the terms of the 5 year fixed tenancy with little success. The amount of rent that they are looking for is absurd and based on figures that have been pulled out of a fairy story. Even though I have repeatedly shown them the current turnover and outgoings WITHOUT us taking any wage (which has been the case since we took the pub) their absolute blanket disregard for us the publicans and the voice of the community as a whole, was abundantly clear. Their argument again has been that we need to put the beer up to £6.50-£7.00 a pint and then we can afford the rent. I'm sorry but there is NO WAY in this world that we were going to Increase the prices to anywhere near that amount. So unfortunately we have had to take a stand. We refuse to keep putting money in their pockets and we have walked away. The stress of the constant failed negotiations and the constant worry of meeting the monthly payments to the brewery, have really taken their toll on our physical and mental health and we are so run down that we are exhausted (hence the few days off). We are so sorry that it has ended this way, it was always our intention to stay long term but it is impossible to negotiate with a company that won't negotiate. And that is not what we were promised/sold when we took the tenancy. All we can say is thank you so much to each and every one of you, that got behind us and supported us. It was truly humbling to see you all turning up each week for the pub and we are more gutted by this outcome than you can imagine. We really hope you don't feel that we've let you down, as we honestly gave it everything we had both physically and financially. Take care guys and we are truly sorry x
