Wednesday.

Right… enough chatting.

I’ve got beer lines to clean, a quiz to finish writing, and approximately 17 other jobs that all seemed like a good idea at the time. 😄

So this is your official reminder that we’ve got a cracking few days ahead.

The Pour House Runners are back.

Meet from 6pm, set off at 6.30pm. All abilities welcome, and nobody gets left behind. If running isn’t your thing, the bar’s open from 4–9pm anyway, so come along for the important part… the rehydration. 🍻

🧠 Tomorrow
Quiz Night is back!

There are still a few places left if you fancy testing your general knowledge and spending the evening in the coolest cellar bar in Devizes.

Well… it’s Friday. That really needs no further explanation.

Tuesday.

Today is one of those glamorous “running a pub” days.

The doors are shut.

The laptop’s open.

And I’m currently trying to remember whether I wrote Question 17… or just dreamt that I did. 🤔😄

That’s because Quiz Night is back this Thursday, and there are still a few places left.

🕡 Arrive from 6.30pm
⏰ Quiz starts at 7pm
👥 Teams of 4–6
💷 £2 per person, with every penny going into the prize pot for the top three teams.

With the weather warming up again, we’ll be downstairs in the lovely cool cellar bar, where the only thing under pressure should be your general knowledge.

Monday.

Well… July has crept up on us!

After another brilliant (and very busy!) weekend, I’m slightly behind schedule, so the events calendar has only just made it onto Facebook. Better late than never! 😄

Have a look through because we’ve got some absolute crackers coming up this month.

We kick things off tonight with Book Club at 7pm - doors open from 6.30pm.

If you’ve never been before, or it’s been a little while since your last visit, this is a great time to come along.

A huge thank you to Lisa, who started and has nurtured Book Club into the lovely community it is today. ❤️

She’s now handing the baton over to Leanne, who’s taking the reins moving forward. We’re incredibly grateful to Lisa for everything she’s done, and we’re excited to see the next chapter begin.

After taking a breather in June, it’s back for July and ready to test even the cleverest brains.

Well…

We tried.

After Wednesday’s match we wrote to FIFA and politely asked if they could move England’s next game to a more civilised hour.

We even arranged a thunderstorm to prove we were serious.

Sadly, despite our best efforts (and what we thought was a very persuasive letter), they’ve declined.

So, no… we won’t be opening The Pour House at some ridiculous hour on Monday morning. 😄

Instead, we’ll be doing what we do best.

❄️ The coolest cellar in town.
👋 Good people and a warm welcome.

Normal service has resumed. 🏉.

We briefly experimented with a round ball earlier this week…

It was… alright 😉

But today we’re back where we belong.

With a proper shaped ball. 🏉🍻

We’ll be showing the Welsh, English and (yes, even) the Scottish games throughout the afternoon, so if you’re looking for somewhere to settle in with a pint and watch the rugby, we’ve got you covered.

Thursday.

We’re prescribing a gentle Thursday.

No pressure.
No rushing.
No pretending tomorrow isn’t Friday.

Just a nice, relaxed evening before the weekend gets properly underway.

Especially as England won last night… so energy needs to be conserved for the early hours of Monday morning! 😉

We’ve got a private celebration taking place downstairs, and Josh will be firing up the barbecue for the party.

Wednesday.

Well…

This is all a bit strange.

Normally on a Wednesday we’d be talking about people running around Devizes

Today, we’re talking about a round ball and people running around Devizes although the two are not linked.

Apparently it’s theres something important going on involving the wrong shaped ball. ⚽😉

So here’s the plan…

🏃 Pour House Runners
Meet from 6pm and set off from 6.30pm followed by rehydration.

📺 England v DR Congo
Kick-off 5pm

The TVs will be on in plenty of time, and we’ll be showing the match in both the upstairs bar and the back room, so you won’t miss a kick. England face DR Congo in the World Cup Round of 32, with a place in the last 16 up for grabs.

We’ll have the beer cold.
The cellar cool.
The atmosphere just right.

It’s not often we show football…

But seeing as they’ve kindly moved the kick-off to a sensible hour just for us, it would have been rude not to. 😄

Something a little different is happening this week… 👀

Those of you who know The Pour House know we’re usually partial to a sport involving an oval ball.

But we might be making an exception for something involving a round one. ⚽😉

We’ll confirm the details tomorrow, but if everything goes to plan, we’ll be showing it live.

Monday.

Well… that weekend disappeared quickly. 🍻

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. Whether you popped in for a quick pint, escaped the heat in the cellar, or spent a few hours putting the world to rights, we really do appreciate every single visit.

Today is one of those behind-the-scenes days.

Stock’s being checked.
Orders are being placed.
Plans are being made.
Ideas are being worked on.
And we’re getting everything ready for another great week at The Pour House.

This evening, we’re proud to be hosting Talk Club.

🗓️ From 6pm
🍺 Bar open from 5.30pm

Talk Club is part of the Talk Club network (talkclub.org) and is all about men’s mental fitness.

It’s a relaxed, supportive space where men can get together, have a chat, listen, share as much or as little as they want, and realise they’re not facing life’s challenges on their own.

Because sometimes the bravest thing you can do is simply turn up.

If you’ve been thinking about coming along, perhaps tonight is the night.

And if you’re just after a quiet drink to ease yourself into the week, the bar is open too. The welcome is exactly the same.
