When Northern Ireland singer Jordan O'Keefe took to the Britian's Got Talent stage as a finalist in 2013, he thought it would be the moment his life would be changed forever.
He was 18 years old at the time, and after singing a duet alongside Ed Sheeran, he placed sixth in the popular show, with Simon Cowell telling him that he had a 'very bright' future ahead.
But behind the lights, the applause, and an incoming record deal, Jordan was carrying something far darker.
At six years old, he had been sexually abused. It was a trauma he kept hidden as his popularity grew, the spotlight getting stronger, lighting up all that he was. In that blinding light, the only way he could forget what had happened was to turn to drink and drugs, and this cost him 10 years of his life as he spiralled downward into a world of self-destruction and addiction.
Now, at 31, Jordan is almost three years sober, with a loving wife and three children supporting him. He has decided to return to the music industry by releasing a new project that draws directly on his past.
