The Ugly Duckling Dawlish

A second Christmas having sold The Ugly Duckling. It still seems strange not being there and seeing it as Sticky Rice each day.
People still ask about us and look on here. It’s really lovely to know so many of you still care.
Suffice it to say we are both well although we have slowed down a little - well Chris has!
For those of you who are still checking in on us, I can be found in various places on The Strand (Dawlish Cabs taxi office, Presents and The Puzzled Sweetshop.) Plus I’m involved in Dawlish Community Transport. So I’m still busy! Thank you to all of you who have kept in touch and to those of you who visited me this year

Summer 2022 is here. Apologies to those of you who are returning to Dawlish on holiday after Covid expecting to be able to eat at The Ugly Duckling.
We sold the restaurant last September and have partially retired. Chris and I are still in Dawlish and you might find me behind the till in Presents gift shop or in the taxi cab office earning a few pennies! I am afraid I won’t be able to provide you with a breakfast or carvery though!
We wish you well and thank you for your custom over the years. Enjoy your holiday.

A year ago we were delivering Burns Night suppers around Dawlish as we were in Lockdown.
Feeling sad today that we are not celebrating.
However, we are still celebrating this weekend with the Ugly Duckling family/staff at home. In all the years that we held a Burns Night supper staff rarely got to see all of the address to the haggis. So Chris is going to perform it just for them.
Should be a great evening. Sorry we couldn’t have everyone here. Not sure if we are going to have enough room as it is. 🤣

Presentation made today to the Mayor of Dawlish and Don the Duck Warden. The money was raised by selling the ducks from the restaurant at the Christmas Market . Thanks to everyone who donated them to us and to all those who purchased them.

THANK YOU so much for supporting our duckling sale today at Dawlish Christmas Market.
We raised £250 for the Dawlish Waterfowl and £25 for the RSPB
Don’t worry - The remaining ducks have already found homes. So all are safe and sound. X
