Over the years, the original Bombay cafes have almost disappeared, they opened early last century by Persian immigrants and the faded elegance welcomed all rich Businessmen, sweaty Taxi-wallahs and courting Couples. Where students had breakfast. Families dined, Lawyers read briefs and Writers found inspiration for characters in their stories. There were around four hundred of these cafes in Bombay
at their peak. Now, sadly, less than only thirty remain. Duke Bombay Cafe has captured these lost treasures and brought it to you in style by bringing the true taste of Bombay to your plate. We have taken a slice of old vintage Bombay and produced a fully realised "concept" which could be flat-packed and distributed to every brand-heavy high street in the land. Duke Bombay Café has taken the traditional Indian curry houses and flipped it upside down, to create a quirky and modern restaurant, which introduces a new way of dining. So, do away with the bright pattern carpets, dated floral wall papers, modern neon lights and why not come and enjoy the light ambience, with an industrial looking restaurant, with bare walls, spinning tin ceiling fans and old vintage furniture, making you feel like you are sat in a café in old Bombay.
