Here goes... I have sadly decided to close Cozy Coffee, many reasons have made this decision, here are some..
7 years ago (maybe after wine!!😊) an idea was formed, Stew would build a shepherds hut and it would be a cafe, unsure of sustainability we gave it a shot. Success, a customer base built, it was great, sadly 2 years later we had an arson attack, generous fund raising showed us you loved it as much as we did, the bus was the rebuild.

Stew's health deteriorated resulting in a kidney transplant, I was his living donor (hurray🙏). We both recovered very well then wham bam covid, this massively changed the functionality of CC, we decided when we were able to reopen, to restrict it to outdoor only, this was very unpredictable due to weather. Proving our drunken idea worked we applied to Darlington Borough Council with plans for a new cafe, not massive but enough space to keep everyone distanced safely, well thought out, discreet in the landscape, insulated with efficient heating to enhance the Cozy experience, we were excited.

Unfortunately DBC weren't as excited and after many months of questions and unanswered emails (on their behalf) permission was refused, so much for supporting small businesses, seems unfair and frustrating as we have potential prospect of a multimillion pound road ploughing through our adjacent farmland 😥

The decision has not been taken lightly , (I know the time is right for me) the ups have been amazing and the downs not so amazing but it's been a fun, life enriching experience, many long lasting friendships formed, all down to your constant support, encouragement and custom. So thank you very much, I will be checking in every now and then on this page but for now, take care and keep safe! ❤️

Well…. that wraps up our Spring/Summer season for this year! We’ve had a blast, loved every minute of serving you, chats, laughs, giggles, sharing stories and making friends….everything we aim for, work for and hopefully deliver?
Hope you all stay happy, healthy and we look forward to catching up with you next year!!
Happy Halloween, Christmas, New year and hopefully see you before Happy Easter!!! Lots of love and many thanks for your continued support!

This will be our final week before we go into hibernation for the winter so we’re offering you every chance to grab abit of Cozy this week!
We will be open not only the weekend but also Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday AND Sunday! 10am -3.30pm and Sunday 10.30am!! Please bear in mind it is outdoor seating only but make use of our little sheds, wrap up at the outside tables or just be in the comfort of your car admiring the beautiful countryside!! Don’t forget our little hotdog meal deals for your children (it is half term) and our big hotdogs for your big people, as well as all the usuals!! See you soon! ❤️ 🎃 👻

Good morning!
Just a little update…..
We will be CLOSED on Sunday (10th October), I am attending a family christening (which I’m so looking forward to) and unable to get cover for the cafe (the lovely Anne is also at the same event!!), so many apologies for this. If you could spread the word amongst the various cycling groups etc that would be fab, thanks!
I appreciate the weather is getting more miserable, but unfortunately the decision to not open the inside for dining remains in place ( due to the small enclosed area, lack of airflow and all trying to keep safe….damn you Covid!!) our days of trading this season are numbered.
I will keep you updated as to when Cozy Coffee will close for the winter so keep an eye out on this page, or send me a message if you’re unsure. In the meantime we are open as usual, (except Sunday), we have a couple of covered seating areas which can be used if the weather turns, or you could always park up, enjoy the view and be served at your car!! Hopefully there will be dry days when you can wrap up, brace the cold and head over to us!
One last thing, many thanks to all those who voted in the best cafe competition, apparently we didn’t win (although not officially been told!!) to actually be shortlisted was amazing especially with such a smaller footfall than many, I’m very proud…. we all know who the best cafe really is don’t we?????? 😂😂😂. Thanks for reading this very long post, it’s been a novel!!!! ❤️

Something abit different for my page today… as some of you are aware my son Jack held a festival in our field adjacent to Cozy Coffee the other week, (‘The Rushfest 2021’ )this has caused great interest to some of you and you have asked for notification for when it’s ready to watch, hence the reason for my posting this.
If you are interested he complied a documentary type video for his youtube channel and this is the finished footage, it’s basically the whole process from start to finish. We’re very proud of his achievement and those who watch it we hope you enjoy. Please give a ‘like’ on his YouTube channel to help it progress. Following from yesterday’s post just a little reminder to go and pick up a copy of today’s Northern Echo, it’s your last chance (I think) to vote for us as best cafe! Delighted to be nominated, it would be so much appreciated if you could do this for us! Completed forms can be sent directly to the paper or drop it in at Cozy Coffee ready to be picked up next Friday afternoon, we are open all weekend and Thursday/Friday next week!

Do you get the Northern Echo????
Well today’s exciting news is that we have been shortlisted in a best cafe competition that they are running!
Please help us out by filling in the form (it’s just a tick box), in Thursday and Fridays paper, these coupons can be posted directly to the paper or handed in at CC, they are being collected from here next Friday (23rd, ignore the date on the form!!)
For such a small business it’s actually rather exciting… please go buy one NOW!!!

This morning we have been trialing hot dogs and come to the conclusion it’s a winner of an idea… introducing jumbo dogs…. just as they are or with a bacon/cheesy topping, (plus a choice of sauce).
For the children’s smaller appetites we are offering a midi dog as part of a meal deal (optional) to include carton of juice/fruit shoot and a packet of treats from our basket! We think they’re great so why not try for yourself??? Xx

Blimey what a night…sooo last night my younger son Jack hosted a mini festival at Cozy Coffee HQ, it was absolutely amazing…..today we are offering something abit different on the menu….we have super big hotdogs and also chill with pitta and nachos!!
Come and pay Anne and myself a visit, the usual menu will be available too! Xx
