Happy Wednesday!

We’re open Wednesday to Sunday, 9.30am - 4pm.

It’s Monday and that means today is our Good Companions Lunch between 12 and 2.

The aim of the lunches are to encourage members of our community who are carers, live on their own, or those whose families no longer live locally, to come together and share lunch, chat with some companions and pass a pleasant hour of two in the café.

The Good Companions Lunch has been supported by the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund through Fife Voluntary Action and Scottish Government.

The next Art at The Village Cafe will be opening on Friday 28th August at 6.30 with ‘A R**t Gud Brew’ by Graham Bennison featuring oils, acrylics, watercolours, lino-cuts, wood-cuts and collagraphs.

In the meantime be sure to enjoy Portraits of a Village over a pot of tea and slice of cake.

The Ceres Community Café is run by the community for the community. Running a community café in our own premises requires lots of different skills to enable the café to operate effectively.

This includes people working in and for the café on preparing food and drink and serving customers but also requires help behind the scenes.

A number of the current Directors and Committee members have served for many years and put in a lot of time and effort in making the café the success it has become.

However, we now need urgent assistance from others to support the overall management and future of the café. The current café is now very different from the one when it was set up and as such different skills and abilities are required.

For example, we require support in the following areas in particular:-
- Social media how to create and manage digital content and respond to comments
- Marketing, - how do we best advertise and promote the café
- Fundraising & grants – how to identify possible funding and grant opportunities to help sustain the long term viability of the café.
- Creative thinking & critical challenge– what changes should the café consider to operate effectively in an ever changing and challenging environment.

The café is managed by a Steering Group overseen by a group of Directors. We urgently need people who are interested in becoming involved in the management of the café, without which the café cannot function. We need more people prepared to be Directors or sit on the Steering Committee.

This may sound very grand and onerous – it is not!

As an example this would involve:-
- One meeting per month
- Discussions around the direction and operation of the cafe
- Responsibility for particular areas such as social media or fund raising.
Please don’t be put off – it is not time consuming or onerous and assistance and support will be provided. We need new brains and pairs of hands to generate new ideas and to enable us to run effectively in the current environment.

We’re back at Elie Coffee Hatch from 5pm today serving up your Friday night gyros fix! If last time was anything to go by, don’t leave it too late… 👀

Then we’re back home at The Ceres Inn all weekend:
