We're a friendly, family-run café-bistro serving delicious homemade food in the heart of Cromer. We offer a range of breakfasts, brunches, lunches, cakes and pastries as well as a wide selection of teas, coffees and cold drinks. All of our food, cakes and pastries are homemade on site by our own chefs. We also offer a catering service for family get togethers, corporate events and community celebrations. We're open 8am - 6pm, 7 days a week, with food served all day.

Back in 2016 we were asked to create a Cromer Crab Bisque for the Crab & Lobster Festival. 10 years on we thought it was high time we gave it another go!

The resulting soup is a rich, velvety soup finished with thick double cream, made using homegrown garden thyme & fresh vegetables from Lizzie’s Fruit & Veg - directly opposite our takeaway shop & production kitchen

🦀 🦞 Friday evening marked the start of the 2026 Crab & Lobster Festival weekend in Cromer. 🦞 🦀

As always, we’ve made sure The Bistro is well stocked with plenty of fresh Cromer crab — and with it being 10 years since we last made our Cromer Crab Bisque for the festival, it felt like the right time to bring it back for the weekend. 🥣

The evening began at Cromer Pier for the opening concert at the Pavilion Theatre, featuring performances from Olly Day, Marlene’s School of Dance, Dale Bullimore and The Old Wild Rovers rounding off the night.

Saturday’s festivities started from 10am on Evington Lawns behind Crabstix Crazy Golf, with a full day of cooking demonstrations and crab dressing.

First up was Cromer royalty Julie Davies, joined by her son John, demonstrating the proper way to dress a Cromer crab.

👨‍🍳 Next came Dan Herbert cooking halibut with brown shrimps and a lobster Caesar salad that features on the menu at The Kings Head, Letheringsett where he’s Head Chef. Many of you may remember Dan from when he first started baking right here with us at The Bistro, aged around 15 years old — so it was great to see him back in Cromer for this!
Galton Blackiston swapped his usual Saturday Kitchen appearance for Cromer this weekend, joined by business partner Spencer Gray and Head Chef Neil Lloyd, demonstrating lobster thermidor and Cromer crab tapas — although typically, this was also the moment the camera battery gave up.

Later in the day there were further demonstrations from Sean, Head Chef at The Grove in Cromer and Rocky Bottoms in West Runton, before another crab dressing session from Julie Davies.

This evening you’ll find Westie’s Warblers performing in the beer tent — free entry and BYO picnic — before it all starts again tomorrow from 10am.

We’ve double checked and the kids are DEFINITELY back at school, aren’t they!? 👀

Fresh on the menu this week:

🥣 Soup – as we say goodbye to French Onion, we say hello to Roasted Sweet Potato & Creamy Coconut
👨‍🍳 Homemade Quiche – choose from Farmhouse (honey roast ham, mature cheddar & mushroom) or Roast Red Pepper, Feta & Spinach.
Served on its own or as a full lunch with fresh salad, house coleslaw & hot buttered potatoes.

🦀 Fresh Cromer Crab – salads & sandwiches are now firmly back on the menu (subject availability as always).

🧅 Alongside our Signature Norfolk Sausage Roll and Sweet Potato & Chickpea Roll, we’re adding Caramelised Red Onion & Norfolk Pork as our guest special.

🥗 We’ve got a selection of fresh salad portion pots available for takeaway, made by our team over at West St Deli.

🍰 Abbie’s made a Classic Victoria Sponge as the last sold out so quickly, and of course the weekend means BUNS! This weekend we’ll have 🍋 Lemon Curd & Blueberry Buns on the counter 🫐

🦀 Cromer Crab & Lobster Art Trail 2026 🦞

Our surfboard for the 2026 art trail has arrived, with returning as this year’s artist.

Rachel is a well-known Cromer artist, specialising in beautifully detailed pencil and fine-line pen drawings. You might already recognise her work from around town - from shop signage to local products and illustrations.

Our surfboard brings her distinctive style to life as part of this year’s trail. Pick up a leaflet around the town and explore the trail!

Plus, you can vote for your favourite surfboard, so if ours catches your eye, follow the poster QR code and give us a vote ✅

🐣 We’re rolling our buns a bit differently this Easter…

You already know our buns by now…sweet, sticky & packed with cinnamon, but this Easter we’re mixing things up a little.

🧑‍🍳 Instead of our usual hot cross buns, has mixed the traditional with the more recent and created a sweet & sticky hot crossed creation!

All of the spices of a hot cross bun…

All of the fruit…

and of the, well….cross… 🤷‍♂️

but rolled & baked like our cinnamon buns.

As always, made & baked in-house by our own team of bakers
