It’s the morning after, the feet ache, the voice has nearly gone… and I wouldn’t change a thing!

Yesterday was one of those days that reminds you exactly why village life is so special. 😎♥️

A huge cheers to everyone involved in Crich Village Fete From the organisers and volunteers, to everyone who came along, bought a drink, had a dance or simply stopped for a chat… what a cracking day it was.

Then the evening rolled round, the sun put on one hell of a show, and we were lucky enough to welcome The In-Here Brothers back to The Cliff. Safe to say they had the place bouncing once again. 😎😊🎵

At one point I somehow found myself stood on the stage trying to thank everyone. If I’m honest, I hadn’t really planned what I was going to say… which probably showed! 😂😳

Next Tuesday marks a year since Mum and Dad took over The Cliff Inn….

It’s been a year of learning as we go, wondering what on earth we’ve let ourselves in for, fixing things, breaking things (usually me), laughing, occasionally panicking… and somehow ending up with memories like yesterday.

I don’t think any of us imagined we’d feel so lucky to be part of this little corner of Derbyshire.

So thank you. 😊

To our brilliant staff, our family, our musicians, our regulars, our occasional visitors, and everyone who’s walked through our doors over the last year… you’ve all helped make The Cliff what it is.

Here’s to many more sunsets, many more pints, and hopefully a few less moments where I have to stand on a stage with a microphone pretending I know what I’m doing. 😂😬♥️

Cheers, everyone.

Much love! Lil x

Very pleased to have these two back at The Cliff for the Crich Village Fete after-party!

Daz and Gaz are not only brilliant musicians but genuinely lovely people too. They played here last August and had the place singing along all evening, and they’ve been incredibly supportive of our little pub ever since. 😊

We can’t wait to welcome them back! Get yourselves up here Saturday evening! 😎✊🏻🎶

If you don’t know The Cliff Inn, Crich then there is no better time to introduce it to into your life than this weekend.

It just so happens we are playing there on Saturday. We start at 7pm so you can come boogie and discover a hidden gem all at the same time!!

To be honest, you could come and not watch us and just look out at the stunning views for hours on end.

See you there!!

Important info for you Crich fete goers. Please read. Will be a day and an ‘alf! Get yourselves down there this Saturday friends. X

The fete is on Saturday! Only 5 more sleeps....
The weather is looking good! Very warm in fact!
So, a few last-minute key points.

FUN DOG SHOW
Because temperatures are forecast to be in the high 20s, we have decided not to run this event on veterinary advice.

ACCESS
For those who are new to Crich, pedestrian access to the recreation ground is via the Market Place, under the bridge off Coasthill (opposite the drive to The Glebe and Medical Practice), from The Beeches or via the footpath from the top of Jeffries Lane.
Wheelchair access is available via all except the Jeffries Lane footpath. But there are slopes!

PARKING
There is no public parking available on The Rec.
Crich centre is notoriously bad for parking. So we urge people to walk to the event if possible. Please be considerate to residents and do not obstruct residential roads or driveways. Ensure access for emergency vehicles.
We have arranged free parking in the National Tramway Museum overflow car park on Plaistow Green Road, a short walk away at the top of the village.

FANCY DRESS
Prizes will be given for fancy dress. Think Hawaiian!

RAFFLE
See previous post. The “first prize” is a trip for two in the hot air balloon scheduled to launch from the Rec at approximately 6pm. If you will be unable (or unwilling) to do this, please tell the ticket seller. If the balloon cannot launch, an alternative date will be arranged.

Finally a plea. Please do not fly drones over or near the event due to the scheduled flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. This is one thing the BBMF have highlighted as being a risk to their performance.

Can’t wait to see you there!

Somewhere between “We’ll be raaaate” and “Where’s everyone going to park?” We found ourselves needing a bigger car park…. 😬😂

Enter Dan Gregory.

Armed with a tractor, local knowledge and the promise of many beers he’s been busy turning our field into extra parking for Saturday’s Hoedown! ✊🏻😎🚜

We paid him in Guinness. Whether this was fair compensation remains up for debate.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some drive tractors and accept payment in stout.

Photo by Deano - who appears to have accidentally taken the album cover for a Derbyshire folk band…. 😂😊♥️

Cheers Dan. You’re a ledge. What a weekend we have ahead.

A little appreciation post from us at The Cliff….

Another Whatstandwell Festival done and dusted, and what a weekend it was.

Cracking tunes, great beer, great people and the sort of atmosphere that keeps everyone coming back year after year.

I’ve been going to Whatstandwell Festival since I was 9 years old, and one thing that’s never changed is the incredible amount of hard work that goes on behind the scenes. Whilst the rest of us are enjoying ourselves, there’s a dedicated team of volunteers and local people making sure everything runs smoothly.

So we’d just like to say a huge cheers and well done to everyone at Whatstandwell Social Club - along with all the volunteers, staff, musicians and organisers who make it happen.

It’s something really special, and we’re lucky to have it on our doorstep.

Here’s to next’un! We can’t wait! 😊😎✊🏻♥️
