Ideally located in Cowes Old Town it is close to all the Yacht Clubs and in easy walking distance of the Marina. Now re-open after a month long refurbishment the owner and staff are ready to welcome you to the cosy fireside inn, a peaceful retreat particularly during the seasonal hustle and bustle of Cowes’ many yachting regattas. Cowes has been seen as a home for international yacht racing since the founding of the Royal Yacht Squadron in 1815. The town famously gives its name to the world's oldest regular regatta, Cowes Week, which occurs annually in the first week of August. Later on in the summer, powerboat races are held.

The 65th staging of the historic Cowes-Torquay-Cowes offshore powerboat race takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend from August 28 to August 30, 2026.
The main headline race is scheduled for Sunday, August 30, 2026, starting from Cowes on the Isle of Wight at 10:00 AM before heading toward Torquay.
Event Schedule & Key Timings, Friday August 28, 2026: Teams and multi-million-pound boats arrive and assemble at Cowes Yacht Haven from 1:00 PM onwards.
Saturday, August 29, 2026: Race administration opens with official wet pit scrutineering and safety checks.
Sunday, August 30, 2026:10:00 AM: Race starts from the Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes.11:00 AM / Early Afternoon: Expected arrival of leading boats in Torquay (Haldon Pier) for a refueling and spectator stop.1:30 PM: Return leg race starts back from Torquay to Cowes.
