🎄 Yes, the Christmas lights are going up already in Cottingham, and here's why. 😊🎄
Cottingham’s wonderful Christmas lights are put up by volunteers, including local people and shop owners who give up their free time to make our village look magical each Christmas. ❤️
Some volunteers only have one day off a week, so the lights have to be installed bit by bit around their jobs, businesses and everyday lives. That’s why they start going up in October, ready for the festive season.
The lights are funded by donations, with many local businesses contributing to help keep them going. If you see a sticker saying “I Support Cottingham Lights”, please support that business and show them some love.
So, if you have to wait a few extra minutes while the lights are being installed, please remember the people doing the work. They’re not paid to do it—they’re doing it for all of us. A little patience, a smile, a wave or a thank you would mean a lot!
From all of us at Blondes, a massive thank you to every volunteer and local business helping to make Cottingham sparkle year after year ###
