A question for you all......
I've had a lot of people tell me they'd love to come and watch our live music but they're not keen on coming alone.....I totally understand that, it can feel daunting to come out solo, so it got me thinking

If I introduced a Community Table during our live music would it be something that you would use? — it would be a shared table for anyone who fancies company, conversation or just sitting with others while enjoying the music.
No pressure. Just good music and friendly faces.

Probably for our Sunday afternoon sessions because it feels a little gentler than coming out solo on a Saturday night. I'll be the first to sit on the shared table so nobody is ever left alone. (Not sure sitting with me would be your ideal company though 🤣)

Saturday 6th June 7pm we have Alice Tomlinson joining us for some great live music in the lounge.
Fun fact....I knew Alice when she was very small as her dad used to coach Ethan at Shotley bridge cricket club. I'm not sure they'll remember each other though as they were only about 5 years old 😅
Anyhow come along and support this wonderful Consett artist, as always free entry so live music is available to everyone.

Pubs, restaurants, cafés, nightclubs and hospitality businesses of all kinds lie at the heart of our communities. They bring people together, breathe life into our towns, cities and villages, and play a vital role in local life — yet they face immense pressure from rising costs and uneven taxation.

In the United Kingdom, hospitality is subject to one of the highest rates of Value Added Tax in Europe, at 20% on food, drink and services. By comparison, equivalent rates stand at just 10% in France, Spain and Italy, and as low as 7% in Germany — placing UK operators at a distinct competitive disadvantage.

We believe a fairer rate of 10% VAT for the hospitality sector would provide meaningful relief, supporting businesses, protecting jobs and ensuring these essential community hubs can thrive for years to come.

The hospitality sector has come together to launch – a united campaign and petition calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10%.

Spearheaded by chef and publican Tom Kerridge, we’re working alongside trade bodies across the sector, such as and , hospitality communities like , and you, businesses across hospitality, to say 10% VAT is fair for hospitality.

Our sector pays too much tax, and VAT is the single biggest lever the Government can pull to support venues, our customers, our high streets and our local communities.

This campaign is for everyone: businesses, customers, waiting staff, chefs, kitchen porters, bar staff, hotel teams, farmers, brewers, suppliers and producers.

Your weekend live music line up... Saturday 6th June and Sunday 7th June

What an absolutely lovely afternoon of live music, I truly loved every minute, beers and cocktails flowing and some classic songs to listen to, proving that relaxed intimate gigs are some of the best. My huge thanks to Dave Cowan for entertaining us with some brilliant music, as always I'm blown away by the quality of talent we have local to us. And Dave assures me that our next musician for our Sunday sessions Paul Reed is equally fantastic.
As with all events like this they're not possible without your support so my thanks to everyone who came along and chose to spend their Sunday afternoon with us.
All our live music events are completely free to attend in our belief that good music should be available to anyone who wants to attend. Check out our events page and come along, you will not be disappointed .

Who loves live music, cold beers, bar snacks and great times on a Sunday afternoon? 🙋
The Sunday session, this afternoon at 4pm. We welcome Dave Cowan performing a range of Americana and folk covers.
Come and finish off the weekend in the best way. Good people, good times and foot tapping music.
Bookings and walk-ins very welcome.
As always small venues and artists need your support in order to be able to put on these events and you'll be rewarded with a great afternoon which is so much better than washing the car or mowing the lawn 😅 Arrive early, grab a seat and a drink of your choice and enjoy a brilliant afternoon.
