We’re growing our collection of beautiful wooden toys, sensory resources and carefully chosen play items — perfect for little ones who love to explore, imagine and learn through play.

Whether you’re visiting us for a coffee and a sensory play session or simply popping in to browse, there’s always something lovely to discover!

And if you can’t make it to the cafe, we have a website too! You can browse our growing range from the comfort of home.

Rather than a traditional grotto, Santa Ste will be joining us in our calm, cosy multi-sensory café, where children can experience the magic of Christmas in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

There’s plenty to explore, lots of festive fun and, of course, a very special visit from Santa Ste himself! 🎅✨

We know that for some children, traditional Christmas experiences can feel a little overwhelming, so our Santa Ste sessions are designed to be gentle, relaxed and child-led, allowing every little one to enjoy the experience in their own way and at their own pace.

Each play session lasts 90 minutes.

Included in entry price is a Gift.

Rainbow Pottery Painting are visiting Clart About Sensory Cafe on Tuesday 3rd November where you can choose from a selection of pottery items to capture your little ones hand or footprints to make a beautiful keepsake or Christmas gift for your loved ones!

A little post from Mark…

As you know, Lynn is due to have thyroid surgery this week following her thyroid cancer diagnosis in July.

Therefore, Clart About Sensory Cafe will be closed on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd September while Lynn is in hospital and we take some time to focus on her health and recovery.
As a not-for-profit organisation supporting families across County Durham, we know how important the Sensory Cafe is to the families who use it. Unfortunately, over the past year we have had a number of closures due to hospital appointments and treatment following Lynn’s breast cancer diagnosis, and now her thyroid cancer diagnosis.
It has been a really tough journey for Lynn, our family and the cafe, and the additional closures have also had an impact on our ability to keep the Sensory Cafe running and supporting local families.

That’s why we set up a fundraiser to help support Clart About Sensory Cafe during these difficult periods. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us cover some of the costs of keeping the cafe going when we have to close due to hospital appointments and treatment.

If you are able to donate, share our fundraiser or simply support us by spreading the word, we would be incredibly grateful.

🍂🎃 Autumn has arrived early at Clart About Sensory Cafe! 🎃🍂

As some of you will know, we’ve normally changed our themes around each month, creating something new and exciting for our little visitors to explore. Sadly, that’s had to go on hold since my cancer diagnosis and with my thyroid surgery coming up this week.

So this year, autumn and Halloween have arrived a little earlier than normal! 🎃 We wanted to make sure everything was set up and ready so that you can still enjoy lots of seasonal fun while I take some time to recover.

There’s SO much to explore! 🍁✨
🎃 Go pumpkin picking
🧙‍♀️ Make spells and potions in our role-play area
✨ Relax and unwind in our sensory room
🍂 Explore our autumn-themed activities
📸 Capture some gorgeous keepsake photos of your little ones enjoying the magic

And we’ve also rotated ALL of our resources, so there are LOTS of new things to play with, explore and discover!

Whether your little one loves sensory play, imaginative adventures, exploring new resources or simply having a calm and welcoming space to be themselves, we’ve got plenty waiting for them.
