A very proud moment for us ♥️🎓

Our Meg has passed her A Levels and is off to Northumbria University to study
Adult Nursing in September!

Meg has been part of our team for the last two years, and we genuinely couldn't be prouder of her. We know just how hard she has worked to get to this moment, and seeing her achieve what she's worked towards is something we're incredibly proud of.

She's not only been a brilliant member of our team, she's just a genuinely great girl.
And if you've ever had more than a minute's conversation with Meg, you'll know exactly what we mean when we say she's bloody funny
She's got a personality that fills the room.

The good news is, she's not going too far!
We're so happy that she'll still be part
of our lives and our team while she's at Northumbria, so this definitely isn't goodbye just yet!

Meg, we're so, so proud of you. You've worked incredibly hard for this, and we can't wait to see where your nursing journey takes you. ✨

Our main bar is opening early at 2pm today, and we’ll be serving food inside and outside all day. 🍔☀️

Happy Birthday, Edna! 🥂

It was such a pleasure to welcome Edna and her family and friends to the Crown on saturday to celebrate such a special birthday.

Enda has been a close friend of our family for many years, so it meant a great deal to us that she chose to spend the occasion with us.

We hope you had the most wonderful day and made memories to treasure.

We're definitely not wishing summer away just yet... ☀️

But behind the scenes, we've started working on our Autumn & Winter menu, and we couldn't resist sharing a little sneak peek.

We're delighted to say that a much-loved favourite will be making its return...

Our Cambodian Yellow Curry. 🍛

Fragrant lemongrass, creamy coconut and peanuts come together to create a curry that's become a real favourite with so many of our customers.

If you've had it before, you'll know exactly why it's earned its place back on the menu. If you haven't, you're in for a treat when the new menu launches.

Our garden is one of the best spots to spend a sunny day. 🌿☀️

With the sun on the garden from morning through to the evening, there’s plenty of space to sit back, enjoy the greenery and make the most of the weather.

As proud sponsors of Shotley Bridge Cricket Club we wanted to give a shout out to their upcoming Bonkers Bingo! 🏏🥳

If you've never been along to the club before, it's well worth a visit.
They've got fantastic grounds, a brilliant marquee, and there's always a welcoming atmosphere.

The evening is being held to raise money for their junior teams, helping to support the next generation of local cricketers, so it's a great cause too.

We've had quite a few people asking if we stock a gluten free beer, so we've made sure we do.

We're already proud to offer a great choice of gluten free dishes on our menu, and now there's a gluten free beer to enjoy alongside them too.

It's another small step towards making sure everyone can enjoy a visit to Crown And Crossed Swords, whatever their dietary requirements.

🎤 Open Mic Night returns tomorrow from 7.30pm, and as always, everyone's welcome. Whether you're taking to the mic or just coming along to enjoy the atmosphere, it's always a brilliant night.

Our restaurant re opens tomorrow from 12 with midweek lunch, main menu & of course our brand new August Specials .

We finished a lovely, busy shift today, came home, and found a new Google review waiting for us.

If you've ever run a business, you'll probably understand when we say your heart genuinely skips a beat every time that review notification pops up. You never quite know what's waiting on the other side.

We know we won't get everything right for everyone all of the time, and that's just part of hospitality. But every now and then, someone takes the time to write something that reminds you why you do what you do.

Reading the review below really meant a lot to all of us. Not just because of the kind words about the food, but because they noticed the things we care about most – a warm welcome, friendly service and creating a place where people feel comfortable.

As a family-run business, reviews like this genuinely mean more than people probably realise. They give future customers confidence to visit us, they give our team a real boost, and after a busy week, they're a lovely reminder that the hard work doesn't go unnoticed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write it. It's a wonderful way to end the week and an even better way to start a brand new month.
