Some jobs this winter have required unusual solutions such as getting to remote location for a bothy picnic lunch. Guests had to walk in due to the snow and sheet ice making driving conditions way too dangerous. (The umbrella was there in an attempt to keep the seat dry!)

Sorry we have been quiet but it has been anything but quiet for us. Over the last 7 months we have been enjoying the privilege of becoming parents of Thomas who is a wonderful little soul, immediately demonstrating his ability to convert us into willing (albeit exhausted) servants. We are so lucky to have him in our lives and look forward to him meeting many of you in the near or distant future.

Very interesting spending some time with a Munro EV. With its impressive off-road design architecture, reported 0-80% charge in 30mins, large washout utility interior, heavy duty design and commanding presence it is quite the bit of kit to have on the hill tracks.

It is quite a beast and it would take a lot to get it stuck, however if it does I would imagine it would take a lot to get it free again given its weight. Some familiar parts to those who know Defenders, but I see little issue with that. This vehicle is still going through some development refinement (mainly software related) but I can imagine it will find willing buyers in the markets they are focusing on.

It is extremely impressive that this vehicle exists at all given the enormous complexity of design, compliance, manufacturing and product support so congratulations to all those involved.

It’s always humbling to be included in other people’s litterateur, and over the years we have been included in a few hardbacks and magazines. You can read about our latest adventure in the July edition of where we travel down through western France and into the Spanish Pyrenees before returning back following the Mediterranean through south coast of France, up into northern Italy before returning home. Many thanks to the Land Rover Monthly team for including us in the Land Rover Life section of their highly successful magazine.

What an amazing 24hrs with on one of their challenging and exciting adventures to beautiful and unique parts of the world. With 25k miles to cover (effectively the circumference of the earth) in a short period of time we felt honoured to be included as a stop for them to understand some elements of Scotland that create the beautiful tapestry of culture and landscapes that are here. It was truly inspiring to chat with Clay and Rachelle to understand what motivates them and their vision for the future, as well as getting to know more members of their dedicated and highly capable team. With their honest, respectful and open hearted approach to their travel, we feel that people like this will play an increasingly important role in the future to help better inform and educate us all within the growing complexities of social media. Coffee is just coffee, but when it is shared and fuels conversations of far flung adventures, it can lead you to double down on getting the best out of what life can offer.

Defender OCTA, what a machine! When we were asked to support part of JLR’s media launch we were intrigued to see how a 635hp, £150k Defender added up in the flesh, but after the opportunity to put on a helmet and take to the high speed off road tracks it was immediately clear how outstanding this vehicle is at dealing with ruts, rocks, and mud at a speed that would destroy other suspension or lead to uncontrollable dynamics. Its ability to find grip to accelerate is only bettered but its ability to find grip to stop on a slick surface. Would we buy one, well it’s a lot of coffee but we feel it does live up to the claim of an ultimate Defender. It was also a privilege to work alongside as he and his team created some of his beautiful and delicious food. One day we will get to the his Hidden Hut in Truro.

We get involved in some interesting events with the 1962 Series 2. This time we had a fantastic time supporting Ffern as they created their video content to launch their new Spring fragrance. The Land Rover carried cast, crew, film equipment and snacks to all locations, crossing muddy ground, rivers and climbing up rocky tracks to high ground. WINTER SEASON HAS ENDED.

As the sun goes down on the Winter Season at Comrie Croft we would like to thank you all for supporting us over the winter. With so many named storms over the winter we have really appreciated seeing so many of our regulars, and meeting so many new people despite what the winter threw at us all. We have now handed back the cafe offering to the Croft as they prepare to open with their new team. As a last appearance we will be back and OPEN on Sunday 6th April and then will then be rolling on. Please keep an eye on their website/social media for their opening timings.
