A Walk for Anita 💛
On 8th November 2025, Anita Culbertson was diagnosed with breast cancer. In the weeks that followed, her family faced not only the challenges of a cancer diagnosis but also a devastating decline in her mental health.
Tragically, on 8th January 2026, Anita passed away.
Described as bright, caring, and full of life, Anita’s personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her family are now inviting the community to come together to honour her memory and raise awareness around mental health.
On 6th September 2026, the Culbertson Family will host an event:
Event Details:
📍 Meeting Point: Kelly’s
🕙 Shuttle Buses: 10:00–11:30am from the car park
🚌 Transport: Provided by Translink Buses (75 people per trip)
📌 Drop Off Location: The Pits, Portstewart
🚶♀️ Route: Coastal path (a route map will be available on the day)
👥 Groups: Walkers will be divided into groups of 30, each supported by marshals
⏱ Duration: Approximately 1–2 hours for the 5 miles
The walk is about more than distance. It’s about reflection, community, and encouraging people to check in with one another before things become overwhelming.
Following the walk, the event will continue at Kelly’s with:
🌭 BBQ
🎶 Live music from Big Atlantic (2pm–4pm)
🎨 Kids activities & face painting
🎟️ Raffle & more
Funds raised will support two important organisations:
💛 Lifeline – Northern Ireland’s 24/7 crisis support helpline
💛 The Hummingbird Project – providing mental health support through education and therapy
