October at the farmhouse.

The leaves are turning, the evenings are drawing in, and October brings a mix of getting outside and retreating somewhere warm afterwards.

Head into the woods for autumn foraging, learn how to make tinctures from wild plants, join us at dusk for a wildlife safari or wait until it’s properly dark for stargazing.

For those who’d prefer to stay cosy, there’s relief printing and fungi scenes in glass, both safely out of the October weather.

Some experiences can be booked on their own, or stay for a few days and make the farmhouse your base in between.

Have a scroll through and see what you fancy.

Tucked into the village of Clearwell, between the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley.

Tudor Farmhouse has stood here in one form or another for centuries. These days, behind the old stone walls, you’ll find 20 individually styled bedrooms and suites, a 2 AA Rosette restaurant and 14 acres to call home for a few days.

Come and discover us. Slow down, settle in and let us take care of you for a while.

We’re holding on to lunch outside for as long as September lets us.

A table in the garden, something from the kitchen and nowhere you particularly need to be for the next couple of hours.

Our weekday lunch menu is two courses for £19.50 or three for £25.50, Monday to Friday.

A few days at the farmhouse, as seen through the eyes of .

Mornings in The Roost, time spent exploring the Forest of Dean and nearby Puzzlewood, and evenings back at the farmhouse for dinner and a long bath.

The chickens and runner ducks made an appearance too, naturally.

Perhaps it’s time to put a few days in the Forest of Dean in the diary?

Original beams, thick stone walls and gently sloping floors that remind you this farmhouse has been here for centuries.

No two rooms at Tudor Farmhouse are quite alike. Many have roll-top baths, including one placed beneath a skylight so you can stargaze whilst you bathe. A few have their own private terrace, some are perfect for families, and others are dog-friendly.

From our smaller Hatchling Rooms to the spacious suites, each has its own character, with little quirks and unexpected corners that make them feel like nowhere else.

We’d love to know which one you’d choose for your next stay.

A weekend at the farmhouse can fit in quite a lot.

Breakfast in the courtyard, dinner in our restaurant, a visit to Puzzlewood and the Perrygrove Railway Adventure with plenty of time back here getting acquainted with the chickens and runner ducks.

Thank you for spending the weekend with us.

If you’ve been wondering what you could fit into a weekend here, consider this a little inspiration.

One of the nicest things about staying in Clearwell is how much of the Wye Valley you can fit into a few days without spending them in the car.

Forest trails, riverside walks, little villages, big views and plenty of places worth stopping along the way.

Head out for the day, see where you end up, then make your way back to the farmhouse for dinner.

A very good base for getting to know this corner of the world.
