It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Simon Foulds, landlord of the British Grenadier, on 1 June. He ran the Gren, as it is affectionately known, for almost 23 years and during this time he made a place for people to come together and create a community full of life and good ale. And it was Simon who was really at the heart of that community - never shy of opinion, maybe a little stubborn at times, but always full of life. While we feel the loss of Simon in our lives and in the community, we know that we will always remember him and the good times. There won’t be a service, but we invite everyone to join us to raise a glass and celebrate Simon’s life at the Ale House on Tuesday 23 June from 5pm. We hope to see you there.
