I have made the decision to close the Oyster Bar for good, effective immediately. I have experienced relentless pressure on Mersea Locals page about my family and the business. The accusations have resulted in this business being lost from the island.
This is not a financial decision. It is a personal one to protect my family’s welfare from the baseless accusations and abuse that has been spread. Particularly, the most recent accusation which was the last straw, from a family that we know. Anyone that is on the local page knows what we are talking about.
My priority is my family and their well-being which will end up destroyed if we carry on with the Oyster Bar.
We would like to thank the other local business on the island for their support.
Further, to quash any rumours, the Oyster Bar will remain closed and the premises will stay in the family.
We hope that no other local business should ever have to experience the abuse on social media and the accusations that we have had to endure.
