My Captain’s Day is fast approaching, and I’d like to thank everyone who has already generously donated raffle prizes in support of the event. Your kindness and generosity are very much appreciated.

This year, we are raising funds for The Lady Captains chosen charity Hospice at Home West Cumbria , a fantastic charity that provides invaluable care and support to patients and their families across our local communities.

Congratulations to Gary Simpson Jnr on winning the 2026 Club Championship.

Rounds of 66,67,73,69 for a 1 under par total of 275 were enough for him to claim victory for the 9th time.

Richard Frew was second place 7 strokes back followed by Adrian Wilson in third.

Good luck to everyone tackling the Derwent Athletic club Lambfoot Loop race this evening. A 10km road race that takes on the infamous ‘golf course hill’.
Runners remember to take in the views of our beautiful golf course and surrounding area whilst struggling for breath at the top….. 🤪

Could anyone travelling too and from the club be mindful of the event participants between 19:00-20:00. 👍

Holes in one are like buses you wait for one and then three come along together…..

1st up was Ben Powell who started the ball rolling with one on the 9th….

Then a day or so later on Friday afternoon Garrie Simpson Snr holed out from the 9th tee for remarkably his 8th (yes you read that correctly) hole in one!!

The hat trick was completed less than 24hours later when Phil Porter again holed out on the 9th!

On a side note that draws Simpson Snr lever with Simpson Jnr on 8 apiece….. Who’s your money on getting to 9 first?

Scratch league and handicap league round up….

We’re about half way through both league seasons and both teams sit around mid table in their respective leagues.

Friday evening sees both teams play at home, The Scratch league team host Appleby ‘A’ whilst the hcap league team take on Eden ‘A’.
