Cockburnspath and Cove

Cockburnspath and Cove Welcome to the vibrant community of Cockburnspath & Cove situated on the east coast of the Scottish Borders. The Village today is small but busy!

For more information on our village, please visit our website: www.copathandcove.com Cockburnspath is a beautiful and small community situated on the east coast of the Scottish Borders. We are on the border between East Lothian and the Borders and are ideally positioned between Scotland's capital city of Edinburgh in the north and the historic town of Berwick - Upon - Tweed in the south. We are a

coastal village which is popular with many tourists and surfers. We have the stunning coastline as well as being a short distance from the John Muir Way. Cockburnspath is the end of the popular Southern Upland Way beginning in Portpatrick in the West and concluding right here, in Cockburnspath. From Cockburnspath the John Muir Way can be followed for around 9 miles along the East Lothian coast to Dunbar for anyone wanting to catch a train. The area of Cockburnspath has many archeological remains which indicate it has been lived and fought over since the Bronze Age. It lies close to the old invasion route from England into Scotland. The name of our village has changed since even earlier that 1128! Cockburnspath was initially called Kolbrandr, where the name has changed to what it is known as now (Cockburnspath) and most commonly known as Co'path. Cockburnspath was very much a place where people worked the land, traded it and forfeited it as well as building upon it. This is still commonly some activities in Cockburnspath with farms surrounding the village and having estates in the imminent geography. The village has many events and projects taking place all year round including our Community Cafe, Gala Day, Annual Flower Show, Coffee Mornings, Computer Workshops, Art Exhibitions, Meditation, Worship and so much more. We have great facilities including our Village Hall, Primary School, Village Store, Bowling Club, Church, Church Hall and Football Field. Cove is a natural harbour which was improved in 1831 by the building of a break water. The harbour is privately owned. The village of Cove has been described as having more of a Cornish than Scottish air about it. Cove is largely homes and holiday homes with Pease Bay Leisure Park nearby and Cockburnspath just under one mile away. Nearby beaches include Pease Bay and Thornton Loch which are both great for surfing. 🐶 Please pick up after your dog 🐶

Dog poo isn't compost. It can spread disease to other dogs and wildlife, poses a risk to children and people with compromised immune systems, and is harmful to the environment.

Unfortunately, we've had reports of dog poo being left in several areas around the village, including Crofts Acres, the path behind the shop, the green at the top of Crofts Acres, and the path from the Manse to the Lonely Tree. There have also been reports of bagged dog poo being left in hedges.

Please be considerate of others and help keep our village clean by picking up after your dog and disposing of waste responsibly.

Thank you to everyone who already does the right thing. 🖤

All Welcome!Come join us for an afternoon of fun as we celebrate the end of the school year!

What an amazing group of young people turned up Sunday for a very insightful and helpful discussion about their village. We had some food and drinks, and then Hazel led them through a brilliantly adapted version of the Village Poll for the Place Plan!! TEN young people roughly age 11-14 from several different schools shared their thoughts and feelings! This followed on to a session with all of the Cockburnspath Primary School children doing something similar during the week, and we hope to follow up with others in both age groups very soon! If you didn't make it along today, and fall into that age group, we will be doing it again next week if folk are around (please message page and let me know!) Thanks to all of those who came along - We would have had more but for holidays! Pupils leaving Cockburnspath and Innerwick Primary, pupils at Eyemouth High School and Dunbar Grammar School -- all well-engaged with thoughtful suggestions!
**
And my sincere apologies for any confusion over the timing, as we followed right on the heels of the afternoon tea - well done tot the team organising that as well ** The session with the young people was organised at short notice with school holidays in mind, and when I looked at the calendar ,I had dates mixed up when I said that today should be fine, and the posters went out before I realised, but I hope you'll all agree that getting 10 young people age 11-14 in the village hall for anything is worth it!** And then most of them went out to play football together!!! RESULT!

Anyone know Simon Hayes? Parcel delivered to the Lookout at the cove and no one there with that name.
