La Locanda of Gisburn

La Locanda of Gisburn Award-winning relaxed fine dining Italian restaurant- heritage dishes, local ingredients, sustainable. We are working with seasonal products in our specials.

La Locanda is a great place to enjoy nice food with friends and family or for business meetings.. La Locanda is a family run traditional Italian restaurant opened on December 2003 with the aim to give to the customers a real taste of traditional Italian cuisine. We are pleased to explain any of our dishes, also give a reason for the use of some ingredient and explain how big difference could make

one ingredient respect to another one even on the same dish. In our restaurant it is very important the freshness and the origin of the ingredients. We offer to diners the ideal marriage between the highest quality Italian producers and the best of local suppliers, to create authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of Ribble Valley. I'm clearly passionate about food and I have passed this enthusiasm to the staff, and also to our customers. Local products and suppliers are actively promoted, along with the origins of the quality Italian produces used. The ingredients, preparation and style of each dish served has been passed down through generations, and we hope our commitment, devotion and passion for excellence is apparent through out the flavours and taste of each dish. We are producing home made breads, pastas, cakes, biscuits and chocolates (95% of our pastas sold are homemade). We organised Italian tours for our customers accompanied by me, the aim of the tour is to visit some of our suppliers, taste different products and wines, see how the products are made and off course a bit of” dolce vita”. We do private cooking lesson at customers home, and we do cooking lesson for children and adults at the restaurant. Also part of the team of the restaurant do private function at the customers home, by cooking and serving them in their home. We also do theme night and wine testing evening. Our restaurant gives a flavour of the culture, heritage, tradition and hospitality of the place we are so proud to call our home. Last food orders are taken 9.30pm monday-saturday and 9pm on sundays

We are absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news…

La Locanda has been ranked No. 1 in the Good Food Guide’s 100 Best Local Restaurants 2026 and named Winner of the North West Region.

This is the greatest honour of our careers.

When we opened La Locanda, our dream was simply to bring authentic Italian cuisine and genuine Italian hospitality to our little corner of Lancashire. We never imagined that one day our restaurant would be recognised as the UK’s No. 1 local restaurant.

This award is not just for us. It belongs to our amazing team, our loyal customers, our local suppliers, our family and everyone who has supported us throughout this incredible journey.

Thank you to the The Good Food Guide for this extraordinary recognition, and thank you to every guest who has dined with us, recommended us and made La Locanda what it is today.

From our family to yours, thank you.

The Agrichef Diaries - The Story of Maurizio Bocchi

Life has a funny way of taking us on unexpected journeys. Mine brought me from Italy to Lancashire. People sometimes ask whether I miss home but the truth is, I found many of the same values here... hard-working farmers, independent producers, people who care about quality rather than shortcuts. It reminded me of the Italy I grew up in.

When Cinzia and I created La Locanda, we wanted to build something special and honest, not simply an Italian restaurant. We dreamt of a place where Italian hospitality could meet Lancashire warmth. A place where local ingredients could celebrate Italian traditions. A place where everyone feels like family and where we felt like we'd come home.

Renovating the restaurant was a mammoth task and we took on most of the work ourselves, we took the building apart. It had been a chapel, a garage and a sweet shop … and now it was to be an Italian restaurant.

Many years later, that dream continues and we’re on an incredible journey, with all our friends and customers around us.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Ciao, Maurizio

There is something timeless about catching up with friends around a proper Italian table.

At La Locanda, we believe food is never just food. It is conversation flowing over a bottle of good wine, stories shared between courses, and laughter that lingers long after dessert. In Italy, meals are not rushed – they are moments to reconnect, to listen, to celebrate simply being together.

Whether it’s a midweek supper or a long, relaxed evening at the weekend, our menu is designed for sharing, talking and taking your time. Fresh pasta, seasonal ingredients, and dishes made with care create the perfect setting to pause and enjoy each other’s company.

Because the best memories are made when friends gather around the table.

The Agrichef Diaries...

When I was young, my classroom wasn’t always inside four walls, it was in the fields, the orchards and the farmyards of northern Italy.

Studying agriculture taught me something that has stayed with me throughout my life. You cannot rush nature. Every season has its purpose, and every ingredient has its moment.

I learned how healthy soil creates healthy crops. How happy animals produce better food. How sustainable fishing protects our oceans. How traditions handed down through generations often have good reason behind them. Those lessons became the foundations of my cooking.

Even today at La Locanda, I think like an Agrichef first and a chef second. Before I create a dish, I think about where the ingredients come from, who produced them and how they reached the table.

Cooking isn’t simply about recipes, it’s about respecting a whole journey, and that journey always begins with the Mother earth.
