Our Seniors & Juniors share honours in the return of George Meaking Trophy 🏆

The return of the George Meaking Trophy was a great success as the club’s Senior & Junior teams went head-to-head in a friendly but competitive Four-Ball Better Ball Matchplay today. The trophy was last played in 2013, when the juniors were victorious, while the seniors’ previous win came in 2008.

32 players took part, with both teams battling hard in closely contested matches throughout the day. After some excellent golf, the match finished in a 4-4 tie, with the honours shared between the Seniors & Juniors.

The day was marked by fantastic sportsmanship, great team spirit and plenty of enjoyable golf, highlighting the strong bond between the club’s generations of golfers.

A big thank you to the Seniors section for providing refreshments for the juniors, and to our past Club Captain Steve Yates for generously sponsoring the golf balls.

Following the successful revival of this event, both teams are already looking forward to competing for the George Meaking Trophy again next year.

Today, 6 of our Clacton Juniors (Charlie Heffer, Coco Locke, Max Heffer, Charlie Beasley, Vince Chung and Hugo Campbell) played in the 34th European Junior Open at home.

Our juniors performed exceptionally well, with Hugo Campbell taking 1st place with a fantastic 65 nett, Vince Chung finishing 3rd with 68 nett, and Charlie Heffer securing 4th place with 70 nett.

Congratulations to all our players on their excellent performances. You represented Clacton with great pride and have made us all very proud.

The Cripps Trophy was played today - Ladies & Seniors mixed Greensomes played in lovely conditions. Great fun and some excellent scores.

Lady Captains Day Tuesday 14th July ⛳️💕

As you can see from the photos we all had an amazing day, Coffee & Danish pastries to start, goody bags with our selected start hole printed on the side, our cards all named with our handicap for the day and the par, 3 nearest the pins, marked too. Plus a golf ball (how many holes did you keep yours for 🤣) and a special memento of the day a pitch repairer and ball marker. The food on the course was great, special orders of pizza could be phoned through to chef Jules to be ready as we arrived at the halfway house, lots of options for food and drink (there was a lot of that!) and a regular visit from Bux on a buggy with top ups as we played. The day finished with a special buffet meal and presentation of prizes.

Many thanks to Emma & Jules and the family for a super memorable day. It was also lovely to see Emma’s Mum, Carol Farrow with the family, many of the ladies remember her playing at Clacton 🥰

🕕 Hours: 6:00am – 8:00am
📅 Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday

This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in their work, is trustworthy, and doesn’t mind an early start.

🧽 Duties include: General cleaning of the clubhouse to ensure it’s clean, tidy, and ready for the day ahead.
