At Coffee at Odd Socks, we love supporting small, independent businesses/representatives and giving local makers somewhere to showcase what they do. ❤️

So we’re really excited to announce our third Small Business Representative Showcase!

On Wednesday 23rd September, from 10am–2pm, we’ll be welcoming Lynn from Ethelcat Creations to Odd Socks with..

The name Ethelcat was in memory of Lynn’s beloved cat, Ethel. Lynn has been crafting for many years but has focused more seriously over the last 3 years. Having showcased at a number craft fairs as well as having shelf space at the Upton Emporium, Lynn now brings her wonderful craft to Odd Socks.

Come down, grab a coffee, Charlotte would love to meet you — and perhaps enjoy a lovely lunchtime experience!

🚨 UNO CHAMPIONSHIPS CANCELLED 🚨

Unfortunately, we’ve made the decision to postpone our CAOS UNO Championship that was due to take place on Saturday 26th September.

The number of people who registered was really encouraging, especially for a completely new event, but ultimately it wasn’t quite enough to create the big, fun and competitive Championship that we had planned — and we’d rather postpone it than deliver something that doesn’t live up to the idea.

But CAOS UNO isn’t disappearing! 🃏🏆

We’re going to have another go early next year, most likely February, giving us plenty of time to build an even bigger field of players and make the first Championship the event we know it can be.

🧦☕ COULD YOU BE OUR NEXT ODD SOCK? ☕🧦

We’re looking for someone new to join our lovely team at Coffee at Odd Socks!

This is a part-time, Front of House position, and we’re being quite specific about what we’re looking for — not because we want to make things difficult, but because we want the role to be right for you as well as right for us.

So, before you message us, please take a couple of minutes to read the whole post. There are a few important requirements for the role, and we’d hate for you to apply only to discover afterwards that it doesn’t quite fit what you’re looking for. 😊

👉 First things first — this role includes working Saturdays.

Saturday availability is an important part of the position, with the rest of your regular hours made up during the week. You’ll have your usual working days as part of the rota, but we’re also looking for someone who has some flexibility to help with additional shifts from time to time, particularly when other members of the team are on holiday.

So, if Saturdays aren’t for you, this probably isn’t the right vacancy for you. We’d rather be upfront about that from the start and make sure everyone applying knows exactly what the role involves. 😊

☕ What are we looking for?

You don’t need to arrive as a coffee expert — full coffee training will be provided.

What we’re much more interested in is you.

Odd Socks is friendly, fun, energetic and just a little bit different. We want someone who enjoys meeting people, can have a chat and a laugh with our customers, works well as part of a team and brings a naturally positive attitude to work.

Someone who isn’t afraid to smile. 😁

Someone who sees a customer walk through the door and genuinely wants them to feel welcome.

Basically… someone with a bit of Odd Socks about them! 🧦

The important bits:

☕ Part-time Front of House role
📅 Saturdays are a regular requirement
🗓 Regular weekday shifts as part of your rota
🔄 Some flexibility to help with additional holiday cover
🔞 Applicants must be 18 or over
☕ Full coffee training provided
😁 Personality, attitude and reliability are really important to us

🎆 NEW YEAR’S EVE AT ODD SOCKS! 🎆
A New Year’s celebration for the whole family! ❤️

Looking for somewhere the whole family can welcome in 2027 together? This New Year’s Eve, we’re turning Odd Socks into one big family-friendly celebration — with something happening throughout the evening and everyone welcome to stay right through to the midnight countdown! 🥳

We’ll kick things off at 6pm with Bingo & our Raffle, before DJ Dirty Duck Roadshow gets the disco going from 8pm. 🪩🎶

Then from 10pm, Chelsea Millard will be performing live, taking us towards midnight before we all count down together and welcome in 2027! 🎆🥂

And there’s no rush to disappear once the clock strikes twelve — we’ll be celebrating through until around 1am.

🎟️ Adult tickets are just £5 and include ONE CHILD FREE!
Additional children are only £2.50 each.

We want this to be a fun, relaxed and welcoming New Year’s Eve for families of all ages — music, dancing, bingo, laughter and a proper midnight celebration, all with the friendly Odd Socks atmosphere you already know. ❤️🧦

Feeling hungry? We’ll have our special party menu available to buy throughout the evening:

🚨 WE NEED MORE UNO PLAYERS! 🚨
Thinking of joining us? NOW is the time to get your name down or we may have to postpone the Championship.

We’d genuinely love to make the first CAOS UNO Championship happen on Saturday 26th September at 4pm, but right now we simply don’t have enough players registered to make the tournament work as we’d planned.

We’ve had lots of people tell us what a great idea it sounds — so if you’re one of those people who’s been thinking “I’ll get around to registering…”, this is your nudge! 😁

This isn’t serious competitive gaming. It’s UNO! 😂 It’s about families, friends, laughs, questionable tactics, cries of “YOU CAN’T PUT THAT ON THAT!” and finding out who eventually becomes our first CAOS UNO Champion. 🏆

You don’t have to be brilliant at UNO. You just have to fancy playing.
