Jemima's Kitchen at Victoria House Jemima's Kitchen at Victoria House Our light lunches, including homemade soups, baguettes, sandwiches and hot meals, are served from midday until 3.30pm.

Jemima's Kitchen is named after my Scottish mum because when my five siblings and I were growing up in Australia she was often in the kitchen baking for us. I want the food at Jemima’s Kitchen to represent that type of home-cooking so I use recipes she has passed on to me and also tried and tested recipes from my friends. What’s not baked on the premises is sourced from local suppliers with the same ethos as me – fresh, quality, local and seasonal - with a few Scottish and Australian favourites thrown in for good measure! Jemima’s Kitchen offers a variety of food and beverages, including our award-winning full English breakfasts, from 9.30am onwards. Fruit, plain and cheese scones are freshly baked every morning and there is a selection of delectable homemade cakes on offer throughout the day. Our specialist leaf teas are supplied by Bird on the Rock and our coffee beans are supplied by Italian brand, Mokarabia. OPEN Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays.

This is our Jean.

I 'inherited' Jean when I bought Victoria House from Linda in 2010. Jean had worked for Linda as a housekeeper for over 10 years and she has worked for me every since, first as a housekeeper, and then as a baker. Although, sometimes in the early days, I think Jean thought I worked for her 😂

Last night we attended Jean's retirement dinner because she's moving into Shrewsbury to be closer to family. (She won't be retiring completely though because she'll still be making her popular Christmas and Easter cakes, and she is now an honorary lifetime member of Victoria House, so she'll be at all our social functions.)

I don't normally write this many words on social media but for Jean, I will. She is the most loyal and generous employee one could wish for. She is a hard worker and uncomplaining, yet always up for a laugh and has the best stories to tell, which usually get even funnier after she's had a few Pinot Grigios!

Thanks for everything, Jean. We have loved every minute of working with you and you will be missed 😘

Besties, Isabel and Evie, were off to the prom on Friday night. They looked so beautiful (and totally different from when we see them in the cafe kitchen 😂). They just have to wait for their exam results now and then they're off on the next adventure in their lives. Don't they grow up so fast? 🥰
