Did you know The Bowling Green is around 500 years old, making it one of the oldest inns in Lancashire?

Located in what was once the centre of village life, known as Charnock Green, our historic building was originally a coaching inn. A blacksmith’s forge stood outside, where travellers could change their horses before continuing their journey. 🐴🛤️

Perfectly positioned halfway between Preston and Wigan, The Bowling Green has been welcoming guests for generations—and our story continues today!

We’re now a spacious, family-friendly pub and restaurant serving:

A huge congratulations to Sophie, our very deserving Employee of the Month for August! 💙👏

Sophie’s Bowling Green journey actually started on the other side of the bar as one of our customers… and now we couldn’t imagine the team without her! 🫶

She’s always willing to get stuck in, is constantly helping others and is a fantastic team player. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and her hard work certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.
