Congratulations to my lovely pal on the launch of a beautiful imaging of a little intimate British bistro in Hackney. Lovely and I took a trip to our old stomping ground to celebrate this mega achievement with her.
I first met my fellow short-and-curly cooking friend when she came to work at The Bull in our little town. We obviously share a love for cooking and great produce but fast realised we had completely different approaches to the way we work (and the wines we love…). I can’t speak for her but I always enjoyed this exchange of ideas because life is pretty dull without different flavours. We became firm friends, trained together and hung out a fair bit on our shared gravelly strip of road, Tom and I often waving her off to work (or me tearing up the track on the school run), in co- judging the Charlbury Bake-off we might well have hit what we all called ‘peak Charlbury’, and soon after that she found this lovely little spot, but I do miss her here!
BUT at Teal it’s really wonderful to see the embodiment of her delicious, refined British cooking coming from an audacious all female kitchen. It takes a lot of courage to do what she is doing (in the climate she’s doing it in), so I recommend and urge you to support her and her team in this delicious endeavour.
