ONE YEAR OF IL FORNO ✨
Today marks one year since we gave our restaurant a fresh name and a refreshed look and Il Forno was born.
Although we have been in the restaurant for more than ten years, today is about celebrating the first year of Il Forno and what a year it has been!
There have been enormous highs, difficult lows, countless lessons and many hours of hard work. It has been one hell of a ride, but today, above everything else, I feel incredibly grateful.
Hospitality businesses across the UK are facing extremely difficult circumstances. A restaurant looking busy does not necessarily mean that running it is easy or that the numbers automatically work. Costs continue to rise, and small independent businesses are under enormous pressure.
Businesses like ours matter. We invest our time, money and family life into creating places where people can meet, celebrate, eat and feel part of a community. We also employ young people, teach them valuable skills and give them experience that can stay with them throughout their lives.
I truly hope more support will be given to independent restaurants, pubs, cafés and other small businesses that bring communities together.
To every member of our team: thank you. Il Forno would not be what it is without your hard work, loyalty and personality.
To my family and my partner: thank you for supporting me, being patient with my workaholic ways and always being involved in everything I do!
And to our wonderful customers: thank you for understanding our vibe, embracing our concept and continuing to support us. You are the reason we can keep opening our doors and doing what we love.
I am incredibly proud to own a rustic, family-run Italian restaurant with amazing staff, wonderful customers and a genuine sense of community.
It hasn’t been easy, but it has been one hell of a journey.
