Anti-Social Behaviour Week - Patrol Update

The Chesterfield Canal path is a frequent location that we receive reports for, in regard to off-road bikes causing anti-social behaviour.

SNT patrolled here yesterday to show a visible presence and deter any activity.

Whilst there were no off-road bikes sighted whilst patrolling, there was some cute wild life!

WE’RE CRACKING DOWN ON NUISANCE BIKES IN CHESTERFIELD
We’ve heard your concerns loud and clear, Chesterfield. Anti-social riding on illegal off-road motorbikes and Sur-Rons isn't just a nuisance—it’s dangerous to our community, walkers, and other road users.
That’s why the Chesterfield Safer Neighbourhood Team has been out in full force.
What We Are Doing-
To catch those trying to evade us, we have deployed specialist tactics:
Off-Road Bike Teams: We are tracking riders into areas regular patrol cars can’t reach.
Drone Units: We are utilizing high-tech drone teams to spot, track, and record offenders from above.
The Results So Far: Our joint operations have already been successful, resulting in the seizure of several illegal bikes and Sur-Rons. And we aren't stopping there.
👁️ We Need Your Eyes and Ears
We will continue to utilize these teams to stamp out this behaviour, but we need your help to know exactly where and when to strike.
If you see nuisance bikes or know where they are being stored, please report it to us. Every piece of intel helps us build a clearer picture.
📞 How to Report
Online: Head to the Derbyshire Constabulary website and use the reporting tools.
Social Media: Send a direct message to the main Derbyshire Constabulary Facebook or Twitter/X pages.

Staveley SNT were pleased to attend the Summer Fayre at Hollingwood Primary School earlier today.

It was great to catch up and see the children enjoying themselves. It was a warm one, remember to stay hydrated during periods of extreme heat.

🚓 Patrol Update 👮‍♀️

Over the last couple of days, Staveley SNT have been conducting foot patrols throughout Staveley, Middlecroft & Poolsbrook.

This is to ensure a visible presence in the community.

As always, great to chat with some members of the public and offer advice/reassurance. Whilst on patrol, PCSO Brown was informed about Lowgates in Staveley being problematic with speeding. This has been highlighted to us before on previous speed watch posts in the comments. PCSO Brown is arranging a speed watch to take place in the near future.

☀️ It is very hot out there, please ensure you stay hydrated! 🧴

🚲 Bikes out. Garden furniture out. Kids toys everywhere. Summer is here ☀️
But summer also brings a rise in thefts from gardens, sheds and garages.
Please remember:
🔐 Lock sheds and garages
🔐 Secure bikes properly
🔐 Don’t leave expensive tools outside overnight
🔐 Consider sensor lights where possible
A lot of summer crime is simply opportunists spotting something easy to take.

You know that moment where you just “pop upstairs for a minute” and leave the back door open while the kids are on the trampoline?
That’s exactly the kind of opportunity burglars look for.
During warmer months we often see:
🚪 Unlocked patio doors
🪟 Open downstairs windows
🌿 Easy access through gardens and side gates
Most burglars aren’t master criminals — they’re opportunists looking for an easy chance.
Before bed tonight:
✔️ Check windows
✔️ Lock patio doors
✔️ Bring keys away from doors
✔️ Make sure sheds and garages are secure
A 30-second check could save a lot of heartbreak.

“We were only in the garden…”
That’s something officers hear time and time again after summer burglaries.
Kids playing outside. Washing out. BBQ on. Front door unlocked.
It feels safe because you’re home.
But burglars often target homes where they can quickly spot:
👀 Phones left near doors
🔑 Keys in plain sight
💻 Laptops visible through windows
Please don’t make it easy for someone to walk in and out unnoticed.

Derbyshire gardens are lovely in summer… but overgrown hedges and unlocked side gates can also give burglars cover.
Quick summer reminder:
✔️ Lock side gates
✔️ Don’t leave ladders or tools outside
✔️ Secure bikes and garden equipment
✔️ Trim hedges where possible near access routes
If someone can get around the back unseen, they’re far more likely to try.

🔑 Quick question…
Could somebody standing outside your front window see:
👀 Car keys
👀 Handbags
👀 Laptops
👀 Tablets or phones?
Because burglars absolutely look through windows before targeting homes.
One of the easiest things you can do tonight:
✔️ Move valuables away from view
✔️ Keep keys away from doors and windows
✔️ Close downstairs blinds at night
Most burglars want easy opportunities.
Don’t give them one.

🚲 Bikes out. Garden furniture out. Kids toys everywhere. Summer is here ☀️

⚠️ Chesterfield Area Update – Motorbike Thefts ⚠️
We’ve seen an increase in reports of motorbike thefts across the Chesterfield area in recent weeks. The majority of these incidents have occurred where bikes have been left in publicly accessible locations or on open driveways, making them easy targets for opportunistic thieves.
We are asking all riders and residents to remain vigilant and take steps to protect their property.

🔐 Crime Prevention Advice
Please consider the following measures to reduce the risk of theft:

Use a garage where possible – Keeping your bike out of sight is one of the most effective deterrents.
Secure your bike properly – Use high-quality locks such as:

Disc locks
Heavy-duty chains secured to a ground anchor

Cover your motorbike – Even a basic cover can discourage thieves by making it less visible and more time-consuming to access
Install CCTV or security lighting – Motion-activated lighting and visible cameras can deter offenders
Consider a tracker – GPS tracking devices can assist in recovering stolen bikes
Park smartly – If you don’t have a garage, park in well-lit areas or as close to your home as possible
Remove keys and immobilise – Never leave keys in the ignition and always engage the steering lock

👀 Report Suspicious Activity
If you see anyone acting suspiciously around motorbikes in your area, or have any information relating to these incidents, please report it.

📞 Call 101 for non-emergencies
🚨 Call 999 if a crime is in progress

On Saturday 13th June 2026, officers from the Chesterfield Safer Neighbourhood Team were proud to attend the Chesterfield PRIDE event. 🌈.

It was a fantastic day celebrating diversity, inclusivity, and community spirit. We had the opportunity to engage with members of the public, partner agencies, and local organisations — strengthening relationships and promoting a safe and supportive environment for everyone.

We even had the chance to meet Honey G, who was a great sport and took part in a light‑hearted ‘arrest’ for a photo opportunity! 👮‍♀️📸

Thank you to everyone who came along to say hello and helped make the event such a positive and welcoming experience.
