🔧 Grinding away at the finishing touches…

We’re getting very close now, which means it’s mostly those last little jobs, tweaks and bits of chaos before we can finally open the doors.

Today’s contribution: Clint, an angle grinder, and a completely unnecessary amount of sparks.

B&B 2.0 — now with pyrotechnic effects. ✨

🔑 Moving week is upon us.

After years of games, events, late nights, ridiculous ideas and a lot of memories, we’re closing the doors on our current Board & Bean this week as we get ready for the move to South Street.

Then next week, it all starts again.

🎉 Saturday 3rd October — Launch Party
Free to attend, with plenty going on as we finally open up the new place properly.

🎲 Sunday 4th October — Open as usual
From then on, the new Board & Bean is officially up and running.

It’s been a massive job getting here, and there’s still plenty to do before launch day, but we’re nearly there.

🧠 Quiz Night tonight – for the final time at our current home!

Tonight’s quiz is a little bit of an end of an era, as it’ll be our last Quiz Night at the current Board & Bean before we make the move to South Street.

Expect the usual mix of trivia, questionable team names, arguments over answers you were definitely right about, and one last chance to claim quiz-night glory in the old place.

That’s a rare one, because these sessions usually fill up very quickly.

Expect another evening of mystery, questionable decisions, suspicious clues and tiny detectives getting far more involved than they probably should.

💚 Everyone is welcome at Board & Bean...
..and we just thought we'd take a moment to share our thoughts on that.

We regularly see posts from stores/cafes about displaying flags in store to support inclusivity... some may notice we don't do that. While we always agree with anyone supporting inclusivity you won't see us trying to prove that with a wall full of banners, flags, or throwing around a checklist of the people we support.

That isn't because those things don't matter. It's because to us, welcoming people shouldn't be something remarkable. It should just be normal.

Whatever your race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, background, age, or identity - you are welcome here.

Come with friends. Come with family. Come on your own. Play games, have a coffee, grab some food, meet people, or simply find somewhere comfortable to spend a few hours.

We always strive for Board & Bean to be somewhere people can feel safe, respected, and able to be themselves.

We'll always stand against discrimination and we'll always support the communities that need it. We just don't believe inclusivity should be treated as something extraordinary.

Respect everyone. Welcome everyone.

That's not something we think deserves a medal. It's the bare minimum 💚

💚 Board & Bean is a Safe Place - and that includes our team.

Most people who come through our doors are absolutely lovely, and we’re incredibly lucky to have the community we do.

But following an incident earlier, we want to be clear about something.

We will not tolerate threatening behaviour, abuse, intimidation, or aggressive language towards our staff, volunteers, or other customers.

Being a Safe Place doesn’t only mean making sure our customers feel welcome and comfortable. It also means making sure the people working here can do their jobs without being made to feel unsafe.

We do have CCTV throughout the venue, and while we’re not interested in publicly naming or shaming anyone, we will always act when someone crosses that line.

Please treat our team - and everyone else in the café - with the same basic respect you’d expect yourself.

Funnily enough we have another post about Safe Places scheduled to go out later today, but we didn't want this to go unsaid.

Join us for another evening of bluffing, deduction, accusations and increasingly suspicious behaviour. New players are very welcome, and we’ll explain everything before the game begins.
