A few weeks back, we were asked by to be involved in VAT campaign .
An honest chat about the struggles facing hospitality and how the arbitrary 20% VAT threshold on hospitality is holding back a high street full on independent bars, restaurants & pubs from growing, evolving, employing and empowering the next generation of young people.
This campaign isn’t about lining pockets, buying Ferrari’s (we aren’t all as lucky as Farage) or making us all millionaire’s. This is about giving your local indie a level playing field with so many other parts of Europe and world.
When you walk the streets of Barcelona or Athens, their vibrant nightlife is in part due to governments understanding the need for a healthy hospitality sector. The opportunities this presents to young people, to people starting their careers, starting their own businesses and shaping the culture of a high street.
A massive thank you to for having us down and guiding us through the process.. the work you do with Tom Kerridge and hospitality highlights the graft everyone puts in.
Please sign the petition and help your local favourite bar or restaurant be here next month, next year.
If we don’t take action now, then it will be too late & your favourite spot will disappear… only to be replaced by a nameless chain or a venue that doesn’t know your name or doesn’t care about your favourite dish or drink.
That favourite venue could have been your first job or may be your kids.
